12th international Yoga Day - 21-06-2026
Since its inception in 2015 International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21" of June every year with fervor and rejuvenating expectations all over the world. Being not an exception S.P.College Sgr., under the enthusiastic guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Haris Izhar Tantray. also celebrated 12th international Yoga Day with zeal and vigour. On this occasion the Department of Physical Education & Sports in collaboration with the NSS and NCC Wings of the institution organized "One Week Yoga Workshop" at the College Campus from 16th to 21 of June 2026. The Programme witnessed a massive participation of hundreds of students and Faculty Members of the institution.

The workshop started on 16th of June with an inaugural awareness lecture delivered by the Physical Director of the college Mr. Qayoom Gul on yoga, its types and implications in the modern lifestyle especially among the youth. He stated that in the modern society where people have been trapped in the sedentary lifestyle due to mechanization and busy daily routine, yoga is highly desirable and recommended therapy. After that a Yoga Practicing Session was conducted under the instructions of Yoga Expert Dr. Arshid Salam, Assistant Instructor DPE&S.

The Workshop concluded on 21 of June wherein at 5:30 am, a team of 150 students under the supervision of NSS Program Officers Dr. Bilal Ahmad Tali and Dr. Wahid Iqbal along with NCC Officer Dr. Muzaffar Jan, was deputed to the SKICC, to join the Mega UT-Level Yoga event led by Hon'ble LG, UT of J&k.

On the other hand, owing to the restrictions imposed in the college in the backdrop of NEET 2026 Examination, all the faculty members participated in the final day of the yoga workshop at the college campus wherein Assistant Instructor DPE&S, Dr. Arshid Salam conducted the culminating Yoga Practicing session. In this session after warm up exercises different Yoga Asanas of ASHTANG YOGA were revised and practiced. The motive was to learn the yoga for health benefits.

The programme concluded with the complementary lecture cm vote of thanks presented by the worthy Principal of the institution who applauded the efforts of all stake holders especially the Department of Physical Education to make this Mega Event a success.

District Srinagar Colleges Inter College Cricket Tournament 2026 (Men & Women) - Report

S.P. College Srinagar, under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Haris Izhar Tantray, successfully organized District Srinagar Inter College Cricket Tournament 2026 (Men & Women) from 16th to 25th of May 2026. The event aimed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical fitness among students and to provide a platform to showcase their athletic talent.

Participation

Almost all the colleges of District Srinagar participated in the tournament and exhibited great enthusiasm, discipline, and competitive spirit throughout the event. The tournament featured both men's (9 teams) and women's (9 teams) categories, ensuring equal participation and opportunities for all.

Inaugural Ceremony

The tournament was inaugurated by the worthy Principal in the esteemed presence of chief guest SSP Srinagar Sri G.V.S.Chakarvarthy (IPS), Sri Alfred Thomas AGMUT IAS Probationary, Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz, Principals from participating colleges, College Sports Board Members, faculty members, and students. In the inaugural ceremony worthy chief guest addressed the participants and emphasized to uphold the spirit of fair play, Sportsman Sprit, team work and Discipline in sports and one's life.

Matches and Highlights

All the Men's Matches were played in the college main grounds while as the women's at Girls Playing arena.

The Men's matches were played on a knockout basis as per ICC Rules while as the girls as per Casco format.

All games were officiated by certified referees from the Department of Youth Services and Sports Srinagar.

Valedictory/Closing Ceremony

An extraordinary felicitation ceremony was observed at the conclusion of the tournament which was graced by the presence of DDC Srinagar Sri Alkshay Labroo IAS, who appreciated the organizing committee, players, and officials for their contribution to the successful conduct of the event. Trophies and medals were distributed among the winners and participants. Eventually the event concluded with the vote of thanks to all the stakeholders presented by the Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz.

*S.P. College upheld the Legacy of being Champions in Inter College Table Tennis Tournament at CUS Level*.

It is a moment of great pleasure to announce that S.P. College Srinagar lifted the title of Abdul Ahad Azad Inter College Table Tennis Tournament 2026 (Men's Category) organized by AAAM Memorial Degree college Bemina w.e.f 12th to 14th of May 2026.
A grand felicitation ceremony was observed at the end of the tournament wherein *Principal AAAMDC Bemina Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat* felicitated the winners with Trophies, Medals and Certificates of Appreciation.
*Worthy Principal S.P. College Dr. Haris Izhar Tantary* applaued the College TT Team in an alluring style which fascinated the players and faculty members present there and wished all the best to one and all.

Cluster University of Srinagar Flags Off Volleyball Team for North Zone Inter-University Tournament

Srinagar, Dec-07-2025:
Cluster University of Srinagar flagged off its Volleyball team for participation in the North Zone Inter-University Volleyball Tournament to be held at Haryana organised by Central University Haryana, which will see the participation of 84 teams from various states and union territories across the country.

The flag-off ceremony was presided over by Professor (Dr.) G. M. Lone, Sports Secretary, Cluster University of Srinagar. He was accompanied by Assistant Professor (Dr.) Sheikh Burhan-ul-Haque, Coordinator, Sports Committee, alongside other concerned officers of the University and the University volleyball team.

Addressing the players, Professor G. M. Lone encouraged the team to display discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship at the national platform. He expressed confidence that the University contingent would perform with excellence and bring laurels to the institution.

Assistant Professor Burhan-ul-Haque extended his best wishes to the team for the tournament and assured students of all support during the course of the tournament.

The Volleyball team of Cluster University of Srinagar will compete against the top volleyball teams of various Universities across the country in the prestigious national level event.

S.P. College srinagar participated in the ongoing First UT Level Athletic Meet 2025 organised by Govt. College of Physical Education Gadoora Ganderbal wef 24th to 28th of November 2025.
Uzair and Dawood made it to the final Round of 100 m and Long Jump but were unable to figure among the top three.
