Inter-School Hockey Championship Showcases Young Talent at Polo Ground
The Inter-School Hockey Championship continued with great enthusiasm at the Polo Ground, where Handwara produced a remarkable performance to defeat Uri by an emphatic 8–0 margin. The match reflected the growing standard of hockey among young players and the spirit of healthy competition.
The championship is being organized by Bader Hockey Club in collaboration with Hockey J&K and the J&K Sports Council, creating an outstanding platform for budding athletes from across Kashmir to display their talent and passion for the game.
Mr. Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, the Chief Guest on the occasion, highly appreciated the efforts of Bader Hockey Club for successfully organizing such a prestigious event. He stated that bringing together young players from different parts of Kashmir on one platform is a significant contribution to the development of hockey and the promotion of sports culture in the region.
Mr. Wani, himself a former National Hockey player and former Captain of the Jammu & Kashmir Hockey Team, received a warm welcome from the young players, who were delighted and inspired to meet a personality who has represented the region at the national level.
While addressing the gathering, Mr. Wani announced that preparations are in full swing for the 10th National Champions Trophy Hockey Championship to be held in Srinagar. He informed that the opening match at the Polo Ground will be played between J&K Police and Uttar Pradesh, while the second match will feature Delhi against National Sports Club. He expressed confidence that the championship will further strengthen hockey in Jammu & Kashmir and inspire the next generation of players.
Mr. Wani also extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bader Hockey Club for organizing such a beautiful championship and expressed hope that even bigger sporting events will be hosted in the future for the benefit of young athletes across the region.

Selection Trials & Screening for 14th Pre Teen, Sub Junior, Junior and Senior National Pencak Silat Championships 2026-27
Srinagar, May 30, 2026: The Pencak Silat Association of Jammu & Kashmir is pleased to announce the conduct of selection trials and screening for the formation of J&K UT teams that will participate in the forthcoming 14th Pre Teen, Sub Junior, Junior and Senior National Pencak Silat Championships 2026-27, scheduled to be held at Nashik, Maharashtra and Shillong, Meghalaya.
The selection trials for Singa, Macan, Pre Teen, Sub Junior, Junior (Boys & Girls), and Senior (Men & Women) categories will be conducted from 9th to 10th June 2026 at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar. The screening of the selected teams will be held on 11th June 2026 at the same venue.
Interested players desirous of participating in the selection trials are requested to submit their entries on or before 5th June 2026 via email at [email protected].
All participants in the Singa, Macan, Pre Teen, Sub Junior and Junior categories must bring the following mandatory documents at the time of the trials:
Date of Birth Certificate
Duly filled and attested Medical Fitness Form
Written Consent from Parents/Guardians (for all minor participants)
The Association has made it clear that no athlete will be permitted to participate in the selection trials without submitting the required documents. The medical fitness form is compulsory and must be properly attested.
The Pencak Silat Association of J&K has urged all eligible athletes from across the Union Territory to take advantage of this opportunity and represent Jammu & Kashmir at the national level.

The National Champions Trophy of Jammu & Kashmir has always been regarded as one of the biggest and most prestigious sporting events in the region. The historic Torch Relay Ceremony remains one of the most celebrated traditions in the sporting history of Jammu & Kashmir.
One of the unforgettable moments of the championship was witnessed on 26th August 1998–99, when the then Sports Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Ajatshatru Singh, officially lit the championship torch at the Golf Club Srinagar. Thousands of players participated in the historic torch run, covering nearly 10 kilometers with great enthusiasm, discipline, and sporting spirit. The sight of young athletes running behind the torch symbolized unity, dedication, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The torch later proceeded towards the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, where several prominent sports personalities, officials, and dignitaries were present, including former Sports Council Secretary Sheikh Fajar Ahmad, Administrative Officer G.R. Beg, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir Vice President Maqbool Sahib, and many other respected sports personalities.
Players from outside Jammu & Kashmir also participated in the Torch Light Ceremony, making the event even more memorable and prestigious. This grand tradition used to be observed every year on 26th August and has remained an important symbol of hockey and sports culture in the Valley.
InshaAllah, this year as well, the Torch Ceremony will be held on 26th August at Golf Club Srinagar, where the championship torch will officially be lit. The torch will then proceed towards the Polo Ground Astroturf Hockey Stadium, where it will be warmly received by players, officials, dignitaries, and sports lovers.
Immediately after the Torch Reception Ceremony, the prestigious 10th National Champions Trophy Hockey Championship, organized by National Sports Club Rajbagh Srinagar under the aegis of Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, will officially commence.
The championship is expected to witness the participation of talented teams and players from different parts of the country and will promote sportsmanship, unity, discipline, and the spirit of hockey in Jammu & Kashmir.
The event is expected to revive the glorious memories of past championships while inspiring a new generation of young athletes to continue the rich sporting legacy of the region.

J&K Kudo Association Shines at 4th Kudo National Championship Cup 2026

The J&K Kudo Association proudly participated in the 4th Kudo National Championship Cup 2026 held at Pune from 16th to 21st May 2026.
A total of 50 participants from Jammu & Kashmir represented the Union Territory in the prestigious national event and showcased outstanding performances, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the championship.

The 4th Kashmir Gold Cup Taekwondo Championship 2026, organized by National Sports Club Rajbagh Srinagar, will be held from 20th June 2026 to 22nd June 2026 at the prestigious Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, Srinagar.
This grand international sporting event will witness the participation of national and international Taekwondo players, coaches, referees, technical officials, and sports dignitaries from different countries and various states of India.
The championship aims to promote sportsmanship, discipline, unity, peace, and international friendship through the spirit of Taekwondo while providing a major international platform for the talented youth of Jammu & Kashmir.
