Chairman SHRC J&K State Mr. Bilal Nazki, visited Police Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, PCR Srinagar on Wednesday (25.07.2018). He was briefed about the functioning of the Centre and maintaining of OPD and IPD facility with the dedicated staff of DDC.While visiting the in-patient wards Justice Nazki interacted with the patients individually.
Mr. Nazki also visited the skill development training operating at DDC, PCR.

A group session was held with the families of In-house patients in addiction to families of patients who have recovered. A potent interaction took place based on- " Effective Parent-Child Communication". Parents shared their experiences of how they help/ed their children in fighting with this dreadful disease.

Patients who have recovered also shared their life experiences with/without drugs.

One-day interaction program was held at Drug De-addiction Centre, PCR with Ashima Kaul- an independent Journalist and founder of Yakjah- A youth group. Ashima Kaul, along with her colleague's Sameera and Leeza interacted with patients admitted at centre.
Some of the core concerns associated with addiction were discussed. Patients also narrated their stories of how they got involved into drug addiction.
Role of civil society, NGO's and government in curbing the menace of drug addiction in the valley was also discussed.
Guardians of the patients were also present in the session who shared their experience of struggling with such a disease among their kids which has affected their social dynamics.
