For over eight centuries, from the 5th century CE onwards, Nalanda University reigned supreme. Renowned as the world's first and largest residential university, it attracted scholars from across Asia – China, Korea, Japan, Tibet, and beyond – all seeking its unparalleled wisdom. Imagine a bustling campus with 10,000 students engrossed in diverse subjects. Sanskrit, the language of scholarship, echoed through its halls.

S̲a̲n̲s̲k̲r̲i̲t̲,̲ the ancient language of Nalanda, played a crucial role in preserving and disseminating knowledge. Its intricate grammar and vast vocabulary facilitated the creation of a rich scholarly tradition. By reviving Sanskrit alongside Nalanda, India is not only reconnecting with its roots but also offering the world a powerful tool for cross-cultural understanding.

The new Nalanda University embodies a progressive vision. Spread over 455 acres, the state-of-the-art campus boasts two academic blocks with 40 classrooms, offering a total seating capacity of around 1,900. Two auditoriums, each with a capacity of 300, provide additional learning spaces. Student accommodation caters to approximately 550, fostering a vibrant residential community. Beyond academics, the campus features an International Centre, a 2,000-seater amphitheater, a faculty club, and a sports complex, creating a holistic learning environment.
