🐘✨ Why do we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi... and why is Lord Ganesha worshipped before every new beginning?
The ancient story holds a beautiful meaning. 🙏
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the beloved son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to Hindu tradition, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha and asked him to guard her doorway. When Lord Shiva returned, Ganesha—unaware of who Shiva was—stopped him from entering. A fierce confrontation followed, during which Ganesha lost his head.
Seeing Parvati’s grief, Lord Shiva promised to bring her son back to life. Ganesha was revived with the head of an elephant and blessed as Vighnaharta—the remover of obstacles—and the deity to be worshipped before beginning something new. 🌺🐘
That is why Ganesh Chaturthi is more than a festival. It celebrates new beginnings, wisdom, devotion and the faith that every obstacle can be overcome. ✨
