Life is full of transitions and challenges, but it's important to keep pushing ourselves to evolve and grow. Trying new and difficult things can help us discover new strengths, find direction, and reignite our purpose.

This pyramid is designed for people looking to get in better shape by losing some excess weight and transforming their body fat into lean muscle.

I see a lot of people unnecessarily over complicating the process, or relying too heavily on new workout trends or fad diets to get quick results. And far too often I see these plans fail. It saddens me because it just doesn’t have to be the case!

The truth is, the process isn’t complicated, but lasting change does take time and most importantly, consistency.

If you follow the steps I’ve laid out here, you will absolutely see results. The trick is developing the right mindset to hold yourself accountable to the maintain the consistency required to achieve the results you want. This is where a certified personal trainer you trust comes in.

“Wear your work.” It’s a saying I first heard a few years ago from , a great friend and one of the truest of blues, and means more to me now than ever before.

I feel like inspirational quotes or sayings like this happen like that. You know they probably mean something profound, but the words don’t *really* sink in until later - when you’ve had a little more life under your belt or are in a stronger position to reflect back to truly grasp what they mean.

I also believe that sometimes the meanings can also evolve with you and start to mean different things at different points in your life too.

For me, “wearing my work” means no longer needing to explain myself to others. It means knowing wholeheartedly that what others think of me is truly none of my business so long as I know my actions are coming from a good place. It’s being able to put in work on myself, emotionally or physically, and letting that effort shine through without needing to justify it, introduce it, or caveat it. It’s the freedom that comes with internalizing the idea of - making decisions and going about my life knowing that my motives are in the best place possible, even if, ESPECIALLY if, I know it won’t please everyone.

I’ve come a long way since first hearing those words and I’ve got a long way still to go. But, I am so grateful I have sayings like this from inspirational people like her that have stuck with me. And maybe, if you’re reading this, they’re already resonating with you.

I never want to be finished exploring or learning new things. I always will strive to wear my work and never again try to convince someone or something of my worth. I will continue to live as my true authentic self and trust that the people, things, and opportunities meant to be will gravitate towards me naturally.

I love sharing as much as possible about fitness; whether via posts or as downloadable material on my site (see linktree), I strive to ensure everyone committed to making lasting changes has a safe place to go for relevant, no BS information on achieving sustainable goals.

But when it comes to working one-on-one, I only choose a select number of clients I jive with who are willing to invest a significant amount of money in themselves for a minimum of three months. Here are 5 reasons why (arrow down emoji)

People willing to spend money on themselves seek substantive transformation; not some fad diet or get fit quick gimick. They put their money where their mouth is, willing to accept the help I offer. The world is your playground - Explore it!

Being physically fit gives you access to a greater amount of what life has to offer. It opens doors to new adventures and opportunities and makes the impossible seem within reach.

Being more active in nature is a great way to supplement the training you do at the gym or at home. Finding activities to do outdoors can also improve blood pressure, boost mental health, and decrease the risk of certain diseases!

Mindset Motivation: Make the choice that scares you the most, because that decision is the one that will cause you to grow.

It wasn’t until I resigned from the Agency that I was essentially forced to do the shadow work all those mental health gurus keep talking about. Let me be clear, that was not my intention starting out.

I was already in a pretty low place emotionally and spiritually and tearing myself open to figure out why I was hurting so bad was the last thing on my agenda.

However, that is exactly what happened. You see, learning how to live my life after making that terrifying decision was where the real challenges began. This is where I got to really come to terms with my demons, identify my resentments, and do a personal inventory of my life to see who I truly was in the rawest sense. It was a gut-churning process, but it was effin’ worth it.

What I discovered was eye-opening. I’d been allowing resentments to eat me alive and keep me stuck. Instead of only trying to control the controllables, I attempted to get the universe to bend to MY will and when things didn’t go my way, *the right way*, I took it as a personal slight and those resentments started to fester throughout every aspect of my life.

Once I knew what happened, I also knew what the plan going forward needed to be. Difficult as it was, I needed to change my mindset and start living life on life’s terms and not hold onto resentments longer than it took to name them. I needed to and be content in my resolve so that when things inevitably didn’t go my way, it wouldn’t collapse me.

I don’t know what would have happened had I not made that painfully difficult decision to leave. I can guess it wouldn’t have been anywhere good.

What I do know is that making that decision allowed me the space to dig deep, face my demons, and eventually change my mindset and I have not looked back since.

Muay Thai kickboxing has been a stabilizing force for me since I was 16 years old. Never in my life have I experienced a more fulfilling workout!

Not only do I get in the best shape of my life when I train at it regularly, I learn something super frickin’ useful in the process!

The confidence boost the training gives is something else that’s been unmatched as well, imho.

I truly believe every single person, especially women, should have some familiarity with how to defend themselves. Leaning a martial art allows the practitioner to exude a quiet resolve that gives off a “don’t mess with me” vibe that I am sure has deterred countless numbers of would-be wrongdoers.

Muay Thai is a great way to learn some seriously practical life skills while becoming fit and is why the programs I build often incorporate elements of self-defense that is drawn from over my 20 years of experience as a Muay Thai fighter.

Lauren Everest Fitness was founded by a former CIA Operations Officer with focused intention and a warrior-spirited mission: to help strong women reclaim their center and become heroes of their own stories.

In just a few short years my life has drastically changed. At some points, I felt like I was at the end of my rope and had lost all sense of purpose and direction. Even if you know in your heart it’s the right decision, it is an extremely difficult thing to end a career doing what you felt you were put on this earth to do. You wind up grieving part of your own identity. And if that’s not a mind eff, I don’t know what is!

All that said, and after some really dark moments that felt like an eternity, I was able to find the grit to keep going. Day after day and little by little I could feel the light start to come back and the hope return. I educated and built programs for myself to follow and began incorporating healthier habits into my routine. Before I knew it, I had begun forging a new life. A life beyond my wildest dreams! One that opened up doors to new opportunities and amazing people. A life I could be proud of and one that I feel will allow me to make a greater impact than ever before.

I encourage every single client I work with to think holistically about their fitness and not categorize exercise as something that can only occur in a gym setting, lifting heavy weights, or running on a treadmill for hours on end!

You don’t need a lot of space or even any equipment to get a kick ass workout. You also don’t even need to allocate that much time if your program is built with density. PLUS, the weather is finally nice enough to train outdoors and is a favorite of mine. It allows me to mix up my environment and soak in the benefits of outdoor activity while still being able to train hard.

The point is, if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, your not likely to keep doing it. If “traditional” gym activities bore you or leave you with a sense of dread, something needs to be tweaked in your mindset to help you look forward to doing healthy activities.

I spend a lot of time talking with my clients about their interests outside of the gym and together we find a way to incorporate preference based training modalities into a well-rounded program. These adjustments encourage more program adherence which is then more likely to lead to sustainable change.

Do whatever that thing is that’s going to keep you coming back to train. Investing in yourself and being healthier today is going to save you not on money in the long run, but also time. And that’s the most precious resource we have.

I train my clients to see results using minimal equipment. That way, if gym access is compromised (think: COVID), or if they prefer to train comfortably at home, they don’t need to spend money on expensive pieces of equipment to still nail their goals! Even after our time together is finished, clients cultivate confidence to grab some dumbells or a kettlebell and know what to do to keep themselves on track.

Hiring a private trainer to work one-on-one, develop a workout program & eating strategy specific to your needs and preferences isn’t cheap, but becoming a healthier version of yourself is PRICELESS. Painted all black, this little sanctuary is a throwback to the old Viking stave churches where prayers to Odin were whispered to Valhalla on the wings of Valkyrie!
