Same time as yesterday...snowing and very windy. The storm is forecast until late tonight.
In Icelandic this weather is known as "Gluggaveður"...window weather, weather best enjoyed through a window rather than outside.

Just 2 hours drive from Akureyri. With direct flights from London to Manchester to Akureyri, October to May we are the perfect location to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

So beautiful today...the snow comes and goes after a few days. We are expecting bad weather overnight and tomorrow. It will be interesting to compare today's photos with tomorrow's.
Remember we ARE open in the winter but it's very quiet and we only fill the pots when we are expecting people so please remember to phone in advance to avoid disappointment. It takes approximately 1hr for the pots to fill with geothermal water.

These are just a few of the beautiful things you can see within a short distance...either on the drive to or from the hottubs or if your staying in Melar Guesthouse for one or two nights. There is enough to see in the area to warrant at least a 2 night stay and with direct flights from London and Manchester to Akureyri with Easyjet from September to May we are a great destination if you want to escape for a few days. We are just a 2 HR drive from the airport. There are so many beautiful places to visit along the way.

During the summer the hot tubs are open to the public from 1pm to 8pm ...They are open at other times for the guests staying at Melar Guesthouse.

Even on a day like this the hot tubs are beautiful. What better than jumping into the 38-42c water.
But please remember if visiting between September and June to give us a quick call before you come so they will be filled ready for you.
