US Chess Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura gained his first world title, winning the FIDE World Fischer Random Chess Championship today in Reykjavik, Iceland. He defeated Ian Nepomniachtchi, the previous and current challenger for the classical chess world title, winning in a nail-biting “Armageddon” playoff game after their match ended 2-2.

Game 4 between Nepomniachtchi and Nakamura ends in a draw by agreement, so the score remains even, 2-2.

Ian Nepomniachtchi defeats Hikaru Nakamura with the black pieces in Game 3 of their match, leveling the score.

The World Fischer Random Chess Championship title is up for grabs in Game 4 in which Ian plays with White. In case of a draw, we'll witness the tiebreaker Armageddon game.
