Tooltip of the day.

I usually paint my minis on the bases, to avoid the problem of doing the bases around fully painted minis. The problem being I often find it difficult to get the filler on the base without getting it all over the minis as well.

The solution, cheap syringes for dentists. Now I can get the filler everywhere I need without getting it on the model.

I am finally getting close to completing my Blood Bowl Goblin team from Brutefun Miniatures. As you can see I still have the Bomber to paint, but as he is not being fielded, it might take a while. I also need to paint a bunch of Star Players, as the goblins can have a ton og not too expensive ones, but that will be another day.

For now I need to get back to painting some Flames of war minis for ETC, and with both The Arnhem tournament and the Italy books release coming closer I really need to get some painting on some models.

With the new flames of war mission pack finally being released(see battlefronts website) what better way to spend the evening than painting goblins.

Together with the Sherman’s I also painted up 2 platoons of transports for some armoured rifles and a HQ. Battlefront plastic halftracks with metal tarps from an unknown manufacturer.

Late war Sherman company for FOW. Lots of 76mm and Jumbo’s. M4 early are BF resin with plastic tracks. 76mm’s are BF plastic and Jumbo’s are BF resin and metal with plastic 76mm barrels.

The early and Jumbo’s are repainted 2nd hand models and the 76mm is fresh out of a box.

Painted using MIG US modulation set, with a final highlight of Vallejo deck tan and a filter of Russian green primer mixed with thinner 1:8.

I can see that I still need to add some stowage and maybe dust to make them a bit more interesting to look at, but at least they are ready to play with.

Back on track. I recently started putting together a US army, of models I already had laying around. Some models was given to me, some was tournament prices and some was just laying around, supposedly bought years ago for a project like this 🤣.

I originally planned for non-veteran Shermans, as I refused to go META with the 3rd armoured division command card, but I cracked in the end, when it turned out that for 1pt more I could make them careful.

I know, I know. But how battlefront continually can value pointchanges in hit-on rating and motivation equal is beyond me, and everyone I talk to for that matter. So at least for now I will be playing meta.

As for painting I am going with plain olive drab. I stripped the old resin models of paint, using Rustoliums green paint stripper, which is awesome for this kind of work and sprayed the models using my airbrush, doing a modulation with colours from MIG’s olive drab modulation set. They turned out a bit to grey/brown for my liking, mostly because I gave them too much of the last highlight colour, so I also game them a filter of Russian green with a ratio of 1:8ish of paint to thinner.

Based the tracks and after 2 days of decals, they are now ready for the more detailed painting.

While spraying I noticed that one of the Halftracks wasn’t from battlefront but a plastic soldier company one, which must have been leftover from the very first box of toy soldiers I bought in 2017. You can see the difference in the photos.

Well enough of me babbling. Enjoy hobbying and see you out there.
