Where Silfra opens into light and space, Davíðsgjá descends into shadow and geological scale. The fissure splits in two — a dark narrow gorge on one side, a wide cathedral of ancient eruption rock on the other. Brown trout and Dwarf Arctic char move through the crack freely, connected to the lake above through an opening 7 metres below the surface.

The PADI Open Water Diver Course runs over 3 days, in small groups of a maximum of 4 students per instructor. You start with eLearning at your own pace at home (around 12 hours), then join us for pool sessions and open water dives at Icelandic dive sites.

How the 3 days break down:
— Day 1: eLearning review + confined water pool session (skills, 200m swim, 10 min float)
— Day 2: Open Water Dives 1 & 2
— Day 3: Open Water Dives 3 & 4 + Dry Suit Dive

What you leave with:
— PADI Open Water Diver certification — certified to dive to 18m with a buddy, worldwide, for life
— PADI Dry Suit Diver certification
— All requirements completed to dive Silfra fissure

People think Silfra is about two continents. And it is.
But it is also: 52 bird species. 40% of the entire Icelandic flora. And yes, some of the clearest water in the world.

Below the surface:
Arctic Char that has never needed to leave the fissure — living permanently in near darkness, in 2°C water, in one of the most isolated ecosystems on earth.
Loons plunging beneath the surface of Þingvallavatn — diving the same glacial water you are floating through.
Neon green troll hair carpeting the lava floor. A unique amphipod — Crymostygius Thingvallensis — found nowhere else on earth.

Above the surface:
Arctic terns that will absolutely dive-bomb you in summer. Ravens calling from the rift valley walls. Golden plovers back from migration. And the century-old moss, covering the lava fields, glowing in the summer light. Iceland does not do subtle.

Snorkelling between continents in Iceland is a truly unique experience, but snorkelling Silfra under the midnight sun is even more unique.

That's what our private 8 PM Silfra tour offers: golden evening light, glass-clear water, and a stillness you won't find earlier in the day. Iceland's famous "midnight sun" season means daylight lasts well into the night, so you can float between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates while the sky stays lit like late afternoon.

It's one of the few times of year this dive site feels almost otherworldly. And with an evening start, it's the perfect way to close out a full day of adventure without missing a moment, and without the crowds.
