This is our home, and it is magnificent! Silfra is a fissure between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, one of the rarest geological encounters on earth. A place where the ground beneath you is still moving, the water has been travelling for a century, and the silence underwater is unlike anything above it. Glacier-filtered water. 100m visibility. 2–4°C, year-round.

Four sections, each one different, discover the Big Crack, the Hall, the Cathedral, and the Lagoon.
Save this and swipe through before your Iceland trip.

Guided snorkeling and diving tours in Silfra are available year-round.

*No diving experience needed to snorkel it.
*Diving tours, on the other hand, are ideal for certified dry-suit divers seeking a calm, cold-water dive with minimal currents and unparalleled visibility.

We have been guiding here since 1997. When you are ready, we are.

Tell us, would you snorkel here?

Silfra sits inside a UNESCO World Heritage Site 📍 Thingvellir National Park.
The water you float in has been filtering through lava rock for up to 100 years.
The visibility reaches 100 metres, not because of anything we do, but because this place has been left largely undisturbed.

We have been operating here since 1997. That comes with a responsibility we take seriously every day, not just today.

Happy Earth Day. Take care of the places that take your breath away.

Over the years, we’ve trained thousands of divers here in Iceland, from first-time dry suit users to experienced divers expanding their range. Dive.is by Icelandia has once again been named 's most certifying dry suit centre worldwide for 2025.
Dry suit diving isn’t just a specialty; it’s a skill that builds confidence, control, and capability in some of the most demanding underwater environments.

This recognition reflects the consistency of that work — and the people behind it. Thank you to our team, and to every diver who has trained with us.

Guiding and training since 1997.

You’re floating between continents… and it doesn’t feel real.
The water is crystal clear. The silence is unreal. And the deeper you go, the more surreal it gets.

Snorkel at the surface or dive into the depths of Silfra. Either way, this is one of those experiences you’ll never forget.

Save this for your Iceland bucket list. Let .is be your guides.

So which will it be?

Let’s go snorkeling between continents.
It starts with a dry suit (yes, it’s tight), a quick briefing, and then you’re in. Floating between tectonic plates in glacier water filtered through lava rock, with visibility that almost doesn’t feel real.
Cold? Yes.
Worth it? Always.

Guided in Silfra for decades by people who know it well.
5⭐ IDC • Dry suit specialists.
If this is on your Iceland list, choose the team that knows it best. Come join .is at Silfra in Iceland!

Thinking about snorkeling in Silfra, but worried about the temperature? Swipe through for our honest answer.
The water is 2°C — but you’re properly insulated in a dry suit designed for exactly these conditions. (even in glacier water filtered through lava rock.)
Only your face and hands feel the initial cold, and most guests say the clarity and stillness of Silfra make them forget about it within minutes.

We guide thousands of guests every year, and comfort and safety are always our priority.
