Nýr framkvæmdastjóri Tónskáldafélagsins
og stjórnandi Myrkra músíkdaga
Gunnhildur Einarsdóttir lét af störfum hjá félaginu 1. september og tók Valgerður Guðrún Halldórsdóttir þá við starfi framkvæmdastjóra Tónskáldafélags Íslands og stjórnanda Myrkra músíkdaga.
Gunnhildur tók við starfi framkvæmdastjóra Tónskáldafélags Íslands árið 2021 og hefur síðan gegnt lykilhlutverki í rekstri félagsins og uppbyggingu Myrkra músíkdaga. Á hennar starfstíma hefur verið unnið markvisst að því að efla faglegt starf félagsins og þróa starfsemi hátíðarinnar. Tónskáldafélagið þakkar Gunnhildi kærlega fyrir frábær störf.
Valgerður þekkir vel til starfsumhverfis tónskálda og íslenskrar samtímatónlistar. Hún var áður framkvæmdastjóri Íslenskrar tónverkamiðstöðvar og hefur frá áramótum 2022/23 starfað að fjölbreyttum verkefnum í samtímatónlist.
Áfram verður unnið að eflingu félagsins sem málsvara íslenskra tónskálda og að byggja Myrka músíkdaga enn frekar upp sem einn helsta vettvang fyrir nýja íslenska tónlist, tilraunir og alþjóðlegt samstarf í samtímatónlistargeiranum.

New Managing Director of the Icelandic Composers Society
and Director of Dark Music Days
Gunnhildur Einarsdóttir stepped down from her position with the Icelandic Composers Society on 1 September, when Valgerður G. Halldórsdóttir took over as Managing Director of the Icelandic Composers Society and Director of Dark Music Days.
Gunnhildur became Managing Director in 2021 and has played a central role in the development of both the Society and Dark Music Days. During her tenure, she led a concerted effort to strengthen the Society’s professional activities and further develop the festival’s programme and operations. The Icelandic Composers Society extends its warmest thanks to Gunnhildur for her outstanding contribution and dedicated service.
Valgerður brings extensive knowledge of the professional landscape for composers and of Iceland’s contemporary music scene. She previously served as Managing Director of the Iceland Music Information Centre and has worked across a wide range of projects in contemporary music.
Under its new management, the ICS will continue to strengthen its role as an advocate for Icelandic composers and their work. At the same time, it will continue to develop Dark Music Days as a leading platform for new Icelandic music, artistic experimentation and international collaboration in contemporary music.
