In the first year 13 teams competed. The winners in the men's category finished the race in just under 41 hours, and the winners in the women's category finished the race in 43 hrs and 40 minutes. One cyclist cycles at a time and the team members take turns without an overnight break. This is only possible in Iceland as in June there's 24 hour daylight. In 2013 the event takes place June 19 to 22 ! Maximum 30 teams.
