KAILAS, MADE TO CLIMB. The name Kailas is derived from the name of the holy Tibetan mountain Kailash. We have experienced life on rock, ice, snow and travel.
Mount Kailash rises out of the ground near the source of some of Asia’s longest rivers and is regarded as a sacred place by four religious traditions. Every year religious pilgrims make the journey to Mount Kailash, following the traditions of their ancestors dating back thousands of years. The rugged terrain, high altitude and harsh weather, make this pilgrimage very challenging, but those choosi

Mountain Tones | Exploring the Essence of Life
Fade into the wind and snow,
Where rugged terrain is shaped into inner calm.
Tread into the unseen,
Feel the pulse of mountains in constant motion,
Trace the life hidden within light and shadow.
As the heart follows the mountain,
Mind and landscape move as one.
Find the truest colors of life.

In 1899, Vittorio Sella captured the very first image of Mount Qomolangma at extreme altitudes.
In 2024, to pay tribute to this pioneer and a century of exploration, Matt Sharman and Hamish Frost retraced his historic journey.
They recreated that iconic moment using traditional photographic techniques and documented this quest in the documentary A Thousand Words.
The documentary is presented by KAILAS Mountain Film Development Project and Kendal Mountain Festival.
Climbing is not about fighting or conquering,
but a dialogue with the rock and with oneself.
In the narrow space where gravity and fear intertwine,
climbers pour the whole being into this quiet conversation of "Qi" (氣).
The rock whispers through its rough texture,
and the climber responds with the moves.
In each try, climbers follow the crag's voice,
attuning to the rhythm of breath—
ascending upward, while reaching inward.
Journeys to “Qi” (氣),
forged from burning passion,
refined into true freedom.

In early December, headed out in the Ubaye Valley, ski touring toward Tête de Siguret in cold temperatures and an unstable early-season snowpack. With limited coverage and elevated avalanche risk, every step required careful route selection, steady effort, and constant awareness — especially along wind-exposed ridgelines high above Barcelonnette.
Days later, he continued his winter preparation with an evening ice climbing session in the Villar-d’Arêne valley, carrying heavy equipment, enduring long static belays, and pushing on as temperatures dropped and daylight faded.
From sustained ascents and exposed terrain to cold, motionless moments on the wall, the KAILAS 5000GT Down Jacket delivered dependable warmth and protection — supporting the focus, resilience, and mountain mindset essential for real alpine progression.

Chasing a brief clear window, set out for Pico San Lorenzo in the Sierra de la Demanda — starting before dawn, climbing in silence as the cold held on and the first light slowly arrived.
As the sun rose, the range revealed itself. From the summit, the view stretched wide and still. A small hut offered a moment to pause, reset, and prepare for what came next. Throughout the climb and every stop along the ridge, his KAILAS 5000GT down jacket stayed with him — light, warm, and dependable in the freezing air, ready whenever movement paused.
Then the day softened. Blue skies, a touch of fresh snow, and smooth lines through the Calamantio Valley. Several descents followed, shared with local skiers — easy laughter, untracked turns, and the simple joy of being there.
One last climb. One calm run back to the resort.Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just a day that stayed with him.
