is such an important, essential, necessary part of our life and yet our culture is trying to distance us from it.
Our body is made to function through movement, our skeleton sustains us, our muscles move us and yet we are loosing the ability to be mobile and independent.
Our culture is being built to avoid movement and to have to do so as little as possible when instead movement is what our life should be made of.
For some reasons movement has become something you have to do, a chore, a burden. Now defined as exercising, training, going to the gym it has taken a step further from its very natural form scaring a lot of people off.
Many people feel pressured to move, to exercise, to go to the gym and more often than not when told to do something we avoid it.
The idea around movement is now that is hard, that you have to sweat, that you have to achieve certain results and again that doesn’t help and again many people are scared of it. They think it will be too complicated, that they cannot do it properly that they are not strong enough and therefore avoid it.
Well let me tell you. It’s all WRONG! There is nothing hard, complicated or impossible to achieve about movement! We are made to move. Movement comes natural to human but we are losing the ability of moving because we keep avoiding movement.
The human body is an amazing machine, our limbs are made to move, to explore, to lift, to support us. Nothing like steadiness can ruin it. We were not “designed” to sit down or lie down. It’s like a car engine is built to run not to stay still.
The human body unlike the car engine learns and adapt and if taught to move less, to sit down more will also apply itself to do so but we can’t overlook at the disadvantages of stopping something that is supposed to move. It will perform less.
Once you lose performance, you lose power, you lose strength and that’s when movement will get scary, hard, too complicated and you will start avoid it instead of natural as it should be.
That’s the key, we need to go back into what movement means and how natural is for us all. Avoiding the exhaustion, the peer pressure, the build up around it.
