It’s official! talkSPORT has secured historic Commonwealth Games broadcast rights for the very first time!
Our very own Michael Weadock will be in Glasgow with live commentary on all the track and field events, and is covering his fourth consecutive Commonwealth Games for the station. John Cushing will be trackside each evening interviewing the medallists as well as updating listeners on talkSPORT throughout the day. Katie Sadleir, CEO of Commonwealth Sport, says: “We’re delighted - talkSPORT’s coverage will ensure fans can follow the drama of the Commonwealth Games wherever they are”

Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump could be fined after both failed to appear at the Opening Ceremony event for snooker’s World Championship which begins in Sheffield this morning. O’Sullivan is a 7 time World Champion, whilst Trump is the world number one ranked player. The pair have been criticised by 2005 World Champion Shaun Murphy speaking ahead of starting his tournament on Monday evening.

Busy start to the as with all the athletes in Cortina or Milan, the Cauldrons there too, boycotts because of Russia’s return, other nations not going because of competition - the 50th anniversary of the opening ceremony could be damp squib! 🎆
