Due to no fixture this weekend and a coach away the Falcons can enjoy their last weekend before kicking off the season with the 1st round of the County Cup.

So a massive shoutout to all Heather Juniors Football Club teams starting their season today or tomorrow, wishing all the best.

🔴⚽️ FINAL PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY – BARWELL UNITED ⚽️🔵

Yesterday saw us take on Barwell United in our final pre-season friendly.

Having played Barwell previously around a year ago and losing 3-1, we knew this would be a really good test to finish off what has been a tough pre-season.

Going into the game, we asked the team to do what they do best — play football, move the ball and trust each other.

Once we settled into the game, we dominated for a good 25-minute period in the first half. Despite missing a sitter along the way 😂, we went into half-time 1-0 up after a fantastic goal from Logan, assisted by our most recent signing Mason (2).

Nickname to follow… 👀😂

After a quick team talk, we started the second half exactly where we finished the first.

Again, Logan found the back of the net to make it 2-0, with a hat-trick suddenly on the cards! ⚽️⚽️

As momentum started to creep into the Barwell side, a cross somehow managed to find its way into the back of our net.

Sometimes, a little stroke of luck is all it takes to change a game.

Barwell found a new lease of life and spent the final 10 minutes putting our midfield and defence under pressure.

Unfortunately, a through ball and a well-timed fake sent a couple of our players the wrong way, creating a goalscoring opportunity which Barwell converted to make it 2-2.

The game finished 2-2, which overall was a fair result on the day.

What we take from this is the energy, belief and competitiveness we’ve shown throughout pre-season.

Two 2-2 draws against Division 2 & Division 3 opposition under the old format is something the team can be really proud of.

Now we can’t wait to take that into the new season and see what the new-style MJPL league format brings! 🔥

Today we’ve been setting up the new Robot iFitz!

Training 3 members of the club on how it’s done.

Heather Juniors Football Club have invested in the Turf Tank to maintain high standards on pitch marking and minimise paint wastage.

Whilst Chris gave the club the straightest lines in the county this Turf Tank will not only save money on paint in the long term but allows time to be spent on other maintenance and projects.

⚽️ FULL-TIME | PRE-SEASON UPDATE ⚽️

Afternoon all,

Firstly, thank you to everyone who came to watch and Weddington Sports U14’s for hosting the game. Today’s weather was an intensely hot day in the sunshine! ☀️

The arms and ears are definitely feeling it after wearing what was a criminal Man Utd cap to protect the head! 😂 Borrowed, although after losing to Hull, maybe the loanee was trying to give it away. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Whilst we lost 4-0, the scoreline really doesn’t tell the full story of the game.

When I agreed to quarters, I didn’t realise they were 20-minute quarters — meaning for many of the team, that was an 80-minute game! Great for the fitness, although through injuries we eventually found ourselves with no substitutes.

I have to say, I was incredibly proud of the team’s effort, resilience and attitude today. With no subs, while our opposition had four available, fitness was ultimately going to become a factor, along with the difference in size and physicality.

But that’s exactly what pre-season is about. 💪

We deliberately wanted tough oppositions and challenging games. Every fixture has been about testing the players, building resilience and preparing them for the season ahead, ready for whatever is thrown our way.

Liam showed fantastic resilience today, providing cover for those around him, creating space under pressure and moving the ball forward safely.

A really solid and mature performance. 👏

Our final pre-season game is Thursday evening vs Barwell United.

One more test before the real thing begins. 💪⚽️

Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to win is! 🦅⚽️

Thursday we hosted Rothley Imps in our 2nd pre season friendly.

The first half was an even game finishing 0-0 with nothing separating the two teams. At half time team talk we setup the team to try a new formation for only the second time 3-5-2. A preferred formation of mine personally but one that needs time for players to adjust and learn their new expectations, positioning and knowledge.

Whilst at times it looked out of place and players got frustrated, this is due to the added mentality of being pushed. Not different to trying to have a conversation and running. Also the new Veo provides the data and that doesn’t lie.

With 1 shot and central possession in the first half, during the second half we played more attacking with more forward possession and 4 shots at goal.

Obviously defensively it puts more pressure on the defenders and goal keeper but this is all about learning. So to finish the game losing 1-0 wasn’t the fundamental of the purpose.

Friendlies are used to build fitness, progress and give the team opportunities & time to understand the game & changes.
