🆕📰 A crash ends Rato’s Race Two at Magny-Cours

This morning, under sunny skies and with the track dry, the young Italian rider contested the Superpole Race, the ten-lap sprint race. The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team rider made a good start, but around halfway through the race he encountered a technical issue which first forced him to return to his pit box and subsequently to retire from the race.
Race Two got underway in the afternoon and, after a strong start, Rato joined the group fighting for the points-paying positions. Unfortunately, on the third lap, a crash brought his race to an early end. It was a real stroke of bad luck, as Mattia was setting a very strong pace which would have allowed him to fight for championship points.

Sandro Carusi - Team Principal 🗣️ “The weekend ends with another crash, fortunately without consequences. While it has been a difficult weekend in some respects, it has also confirmed Mattia’s growth and competitiveness. Without the two crashes in the full-length races, he would certainly have scored points.
“As for Bahattin, he is feeling much better, and that is the most important news. Now we turn the page and focus on our home round at Cremona. In preparation for it, we will carry out a test session at the Lombardy circuit.”

🇮🇹Mattia Rato🇮🇹 🗣️ “Today we worked very hard on our bike and made some changes which proved to be positive. I was fast both in the sprint race and in Race Two, but in the first race I was stopped by a minor technical issue, which my team promptly resolved, while in the final race I crashed.
“It is a real shame because I felt comfortable on my YZF-R1 and could have scored some points for the championship. We will take the positives from our weekend here in France and carry them into the next round at Cremona, our home race.”

🆕📰 Mattia Rato crashes out of Race One at Magny-Cours

The Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team completed the second day of track action and racing at Magny-Cours, with Mattia Rato as its sole rider following Bahattin Sofuoglu’s crash and subsequent medical unfit declaration on Friday.

With a lap time of 1’36.101, Rato qualified in 19th position in Superpole and started Race One from the ninth row.

Mattia made a good start, allowing him to join the group fighting for the points. Unfortunately, on lap six, Rato suffered a crash at Turn 3. The incident had no physical consequences for the rider, but damaged his motorcycle and forced him to retire from the race.

Tomorrow, Rato will contest the ten-lap Superpole Race, followed by Race 2, bringing the French WorldSBK weekend to a close.

Sandro Carusi - Team Principal 🗣️ “Luck really seems to be against us. Mattia was having a good race and was on course to score some points, but unfortunately he suffered a crash which prevented him from doing so. Thankfully, he is unhurt, so we are confident that tomorrow he can make up for the points we lost today. The good news is that Bahattin is feeling much better. He has been discharged from hospital and now just needs to rest for a few days. We hope to have him back with us at Cremona in two weeks’ time.”

🇮🇹Mattia Rato🇮🇹 🗣️ “This morning we found a setup that made me more competitive, and I’m pleased with the work we are doing here at Magny-Cours. I was fast in Superpole, but I didn’t find the right moment to put together my fastest lap. The race had started well and I was maintaining a good pace when, at the beginning of lap six, I crashed. Thankfully, I was unhurt. We will now analyse the data collected during the race so that we can perform better in tomorrow’s two races.”

🆕📰 A crash sidelines Sofuoglu at Magny-Cours

The ninth round of the WorldSBK Championship got underway today at the Nevers-Magny-Cours circuit in France, with sunny conditions and mild temperatures.
After a long summer break, Bahattin Sofuoglu and Mattia Rato were back aboard their YZF-R1 machines for two Free Practice sessions.

In FP1, Rato (1’37.246) set the nineteenth-fastest time, while Sofuoglu (1’37.696) was twenty-first after a crash compromised the early part of his session.

Unfortunately, Bahattin suffered a second crash during the afternoon session, sustaining a mild concussion. He was taken to Moulins Hospital for further medical examinations and was declared unfit by the circuit’s medical team. He will therefore be unable to take part in the remainder of the Magny-Cours weekend.

Rato (1’37.730) was unable to improve on his FP1 best lap in the afternoon and ended the day in nineteenth position. Tomorrow, he will contest Superpole before taking part in Race 1.

Bahattin crashed during FP1 without suffering any consequences, but a second crash in the afternoon resulted in a mild concussion, requiring him to be taken to hospital for further examinations. Obviously, we hope he can recover as quickly as possible, but unfortunately his weekend is already over. Mattia did a very good job this morning, while in the afternoon, with higher temperatures, he was unable to repeat that performance. We will all give our maximum effort to ensure he can perform well in Superpole and in the three races.”

🇮🇹Mattia Rato🇮🇹 🗣️ “The weekend started well this morning, as I immediately found a good feeling with the bike in FP1 and was able to set a strong pace, recording what would eventually be my fastest lap of the day. Unfortunately, the higher temperatures in the afternoon and some solutions that did not work as well as we had hoped slowed me down and I was unable to improve. We have understood where we need to make changes to improve the setting of our R1, and tomorrow we will be even stronger.”
