Our press team had stumbled on the photos from last year's mass intake of players on deadline day. Everyone at the club is hoping to recruit an equally committed group this year.

Tonight paid true testament to the values and spirit of SJCAFC, whilst acting as an encouraging reminder of the importance of their maintenance in the seasons to come. Outsider perspectives might think that heartfelt words from both 2nd and 1st XI captains is a tad twee for a college sport where the bitter sting of last-minute losses is a weekly medicine. However anyone that has been a part of the club knows and respects the sentiments exported here, and the boys and girls leaving the college will remember as potently as the enthusiastic freshers' that sense of inclusiveness, camaraderie and central interest that SJCAFC provided.

In future seasons I have no doubt that the club will continue to play our trademark game in the mid-park, coupled with the inevitable shakiness in our own half, but these are quite secondary signs of success. If the atmosphere of cohesion, equality and respect that was demonstrated tonight remains a persistent feature of SJCAFC, then there are few greater criteria with which to evaluate progress. So best of luck to the new captains, and let's keep going to the TV room, playing FIFA, and kicking-about on TW before matches.

Thank you so much for making my final competitive match as Captain so memorable. I think we can all agree that we will never forget the perfect technique shown in the last few minutes to pick out perfectly the Corpus player's legs before dumping him elegantly onto his arse. Sym scored a volley as well.

Big thank you to D Taylor and Sir Henry Liu for manning the bbq, apologies to Ollie, Ciaran, and Samson for not being able to make it on, and special thanks to Mr Ian Madden for making it all possible.

Copious amounts of burger, sausage, condiment, and even soy burgers have been purchased for the BBQ later - therefore would be excellent to see as many people down as possible. Kick off is at 12pm, and then then food should be kicking off at around 2pm.
