Below is link to register online to receive your ballot for the November 5 election. You get to choose your last US address - even if you no longer reside there. It’s a very simple application, with rules particular to each state. I was able to request that my ballot from Virginia be emailed to me. The application takes 5 minutes and it’s recommended that you follow up with your Board of Elections related to your last US address to make sure they received your form.

Watching the Women’s World Cup, AC Cugini President Fabio Diletti remarked how far women have come in the sport and, as he noted, with thanks to the early US Womens’ National Team. Those who don’t follow womens soccer or who have not for a long time, might not understand the impact the 1994 US Womens Team and their long journey had on womens soccer around the world. I remember as far back as 2001, Italian parents and coaches mesmerized by our American girls playing with and against boys in tournaments in italy, where our AC Cugini teams were the only US teams playing against Italian teams. They were blown away when our daughter Michela’s team with 3 girls won the tournament’s U10 boys division. While American girls were freely playing soccer in the US for years, their potential female counterparts in Italy and around the world were, just that, only potential counterparts. Italian mothers would often repeat, calcio is a boys sport, not for their daughters. To get a comprehensive understanding of influence of that 1994 women’s team on development and growth of womens soccer worldwide, I highly recommend this powerful 2005 HBO documentary, Dare to Dream. I think you can find it on YouTube in 3 parts if you can’t find a DVD on Amazon. It truly is worth seeing, again and again!
