Disenfranchised grief.
Being childless not by choice, we may feel lonely, unfulfilled, misunderstood, miserable, lost, unhappy, unwanted, angry, sad, frustrated, guilty, confused, scared, helpless..... all of these at once or some of these sometimes... What we actually feel is grief. The grief that society mostly doesn't recognise, so we don't even feel entitled to grieve. Some of us had pregnancy losses or stillbirths, others - not a single positive pregnancy test, no matter what we did. Our stories are unique but the grief is very similar. How on Earth is it possible to live with it? Is there anything we can do to drag ourselves out of this sticky gloomy swamp?
