Well last weekend was our first fishing excursion of 2024. William O'Baker , Nicky the Czar and myself traveled to New York east of Rochester for some brown trout. Greated by thick fog and clouds , we stayed close to shore when we launched at 730. Ran a spread of 6 board rods with Bay Rat short shallows in natural colors, black silver, brown trout and Ghost. 70 feet to 100 feet back all took fish. Ran slim style spoons , Dreamweaver Super slims and some home made spoons. Ran these on a 2 color lead core as a shoot rod and two Fishing - Chinook Diver-Stainless Steel Troll Fishing Divers size 2 on our corner diver rods. Ran them back 20 and 24 on shallowest setting. All in all we had close to 20 fish and off the water before noon. Water temp was between 38 and 42 degrees and very clear . Hence the natural colors. Fish were eating emeralds.

Great words and a reminder, safety is always first....
Folks, I know it is disappointing to not go out on a scheduled trip with a Charter Captain, but your safety and comfort should be their number 1 concern. You're not paying to be miserable in the boat or in the water. Is going fishing really worth taking those kinds of chances and not enjoying yourself on the trip? No. Plus good careful guides would rather lose the charter fee than be sued for taking people out in what is predicted to be and is bad weather and someone ends up hurt or worse. That's not worth it to you or them.
Some days we have really crappy weather. There will always be other, nicer days to go. So if your guide calls and says we shouldn't go because of the weather or conditions, it's because they know what is safe, and what is just taking people's money.
So be happy that your guide is smart enough to tell you that it's not a good idea to go on a certain day because of conditions and reschedule for another day. One thing not under anyone's control is God's weather.
Be safe out there!

With all the talk about sparkle boats not having poopy chairs.......this works and solves the problem.....Modern problems require modern solutions....hell you can probably even reel in that dipsy while pooping
For all who complain about boats without a head, here’s your solution. Lol! I believe the website is ISmartBucket.com for those asking via DM. What are your thoughts on this?

Also ran big dipsys w rings at a 3 1/2 setting 75 and an 80 both w spoons, slim ones like Bay rat 3.5 and Dreamweaver SS. Caught steelies on everything. Riggers at 36 and 42 also caught steelies and walleyes. Simple east west troll. Pink orange and glow green spoons ( school of baits customs) and Buffalo Bill spoon orange back probably best spoons. Chrome on deep divers. William O'Baker and Dale were the team members on this Old Dude fishin Crew.
