CALL TO ACTION to all AIRSOFT PLAYERS

In case you don't know it already, with the excuse of the terrorists attack in Paris the European Commission scheduled a revision of the Fi****ms Directive 91/477/EEC.

The European Commission said it is for our safety as the new heavy restrictions they are imposing to all European Citizens on acquisition, ownership and use of fi****ms, dectivated fi****ms, blank firing guns and... replicas (YES, Air Soft guns will fall in this category and will be restricted too) are said to be taken to reduce the possibility terrorists have access to legal fi****ms to convert them, as well as airguns and Air Soft guns, in full auto weapons (they said restictions and measures will be taken to prevent airguns could be converted into something more dangerous).

They know well terrorists do not use legal purchased guns or toy-guns but full auto weapons of war (which are already illegal in Europe to own) smuggled from war theaters. So, their intention is clearly to use the terrorist acts as an excuse to legitimate their action to take away guns and gun replicas from citizens and to reduce their rights.

In particular their intention is to ban the fi****ms falling into category B7 (semi automatic guns with the appearance of full automatic guns, like the civilian M4, AK, etc. which are largerly used for sports and hunting). Their declared intention is to confiscate them to legal owners without compensation (like in a regime).

Beware that this is made with the criteria of the appearance, a gun will be illegal to own because too similar in the appearance to a military gun. Think about this, our Air Soft guns what look alike? In the boureaucrats mind there is no difference between a live firearm and an Air Soft gun, so we can expect any kind of restrictions coming soon after.

For what concern Air Soft guns, if the amendment of 91/477/EEC pass, they will fall into the Category C (weapons subject to registration), this means that owners will need to register their airsoft guns with Police, fireams ownership permit will be necessary to buy an Air Soft gun, limits to the quantity owned and to the use will be imposed. Very likely we will say goodbye to the full auto shooting mode. Internet sales will be prohibited. Only Government approved Air Soft guns will be legal.

KEEP IN MIND THAT REGISTRATION IS PRECURSOR TO A BAN AND CONFISCATION.

Look at what is happening to military looking fi****ms: 1st step: they put them into a category (B7), 2ndstep: they now ban B7 fi****ms and they will confiscate and destroy them.

Send your comments to the European Commission and tell them why you do not agree with the proposal.

Tell with your own words that:

-Their measures will not have any impact on terrorism, they will just step the rights of citizens
-Terrorists do not use Air Soft guns or replicas
-Air Soft guns can't be converted to shoot live ammunition
-Terrorists do not register their fi****ms
-Terrorists do not buy guns in legal shops
-Terrorists are illegal so measures that restrict law abiding citizens will not affect them
-The measures will affect and punish with no reasons millions of law abiding citizens
-The restrictions will turn millions of EU citizens into criminals as they will not surrender their guns easily
-Police offices will collaps as efforts over their capacity will be necessary to register millions of harmless Air Soft guns and harmless replicas. Police should be used instead to fight terrorists, criminals and illegal guns market
-B7 guns can't be modified to shoot full auto
-Properly deactivated guns can't be turned into live guns again
-The restrictions will affect the legal market of fi****ms, sports and leisure, thousands of business will close and millions of people will loose their job

We need to say NO loudly, besides telling our opinion to the European Council it is necessary to sign also this petition to show them they are touching the intersts of really a lot of people:

Here’s the full explanation;

For many years The European Airsoft Association has been concerned that a European directive could damage or even ban airsoft. Once implemented, all EU member states are obliged to put regulations into local law. At that point it’s too late, you cannot stop it in your own country. Unless we act, this exact scenario could happen very soon.

An anti-fi****ms group within the EC has published a proposal which primarily aims to get rid of all semi auto live fi****ms and most deactivated fi****ms. They are playing on people fears after the horrible terrorist attacks of the last year, but this is a cynical excuse for them to pursue a pre-existing agenda. The terrorist attacks have been carried out with illegally held weapons that have mostly come from military armouries via armed conflicts in the Balkans. These events are not connected to civilian fi****ms or to replica fi****ms either.

Although they present no argument against the current status of non-convertible replica weapons in the paper they throw in this subtle, yet devastating change to the classification of replicas-

(iii) In Category C, the following points are added: "5. Alarm and signal weapons, salute and acoustic weapons as well as replicas

This would mean that all replicas in Europe would become ‘fi****ms subject to declaration’. This would mean the following changes (subject to local laws);
• All replicas would need to be registered
• You would need to apply for permission to own a replica and would likely be subject to checks and licencing
• All replicas would be allocated a serial number
• You would require a European fi****ms pass to take replicas to a foreign country
• Internet sales would be banned (as the proposal also puts forward a ban on remote sales for all fi****ms).

We believe this change will be impractical, extremely hard (probably impossible) and expensive to implement, take resources and focus away from criminals and terrorism, will ruin a thriving airsoft retail industry and will not make citizens safer at all. As you may be aware, a worrying historic occurrence in some European countries has been forcing the register of fi****ms as a precursor to a ban and confiscation.

Please stick to these rules-
• BE NICE! We want to win them over to our point of view, not make them see us as angry, unpleasant or single minded! Most MEPs won’t even be aware of the change affecting replicas, or the consequences of the change.
• STICK TO THE POINT. Tell them that non-convertible replicas should not be classified as fi****ms by being added to Category C of directive 91/477/EEC
• TALK ABOUT YOU. Tell them about how the changes will hurt you and your friends, your industry, your hobby. Talk from a personal perspective.
• FEED BACK THE RESPONSES. Forward all responses you get to me, furey_x (at) yahoo.co.uk . We need to know how MEPs feel about this paper. I am building a database of the airsoft allies and supporters.

This amendment is being fast tracked (they are even going to skip the normal Economic impact assessment) and could be voted through in a very short space of time, so you need to act as soon as you read this (if you haven’t already).

Airsoft players should also stand with their cousins in the live fi****ms and deactivated fi****ms communities, they will also have their hobbies destroyed when none of us have any connection to recent events. Together with them, it is possible to act as a huge grass roots body and put down this ridiculous proposal. The EAA will also be lobbying the EC directly so like our FB page and we will keep you up to date with any new information.
