In our new series „Guide To …“ we want to give more information about the venues of the 2015 GP2 Series. You will learn about the circuits, session timings but also the different and in most cases fascinating locations of each race track.

Today we present you the venue of the Italian Grand Prix: Monza.

The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is located in the Royal Parco di Monza and marks the final race weekend of the European season. With its 5.793 kilometres in length and top speeds of up to 330 km/h it is the quickest circuit on the calendar. It is a fantastic example of a track that combines speed with skill, but has also a heart and soul: the old banking, last used in 1961, and some of the old stands are still visible. The Italians call it “La Pista Magica”, the magic track, and if you have ever followed a race in Monza, you will agree that the atmosphere is simply magic. The city of Milan is not far and invites to go shopping and have an original Italian “gelato”. But also the town of Monza is worth a visit with its many pizza places, ice cream shops and the cathedral “Duomo di Monza”. The Parco di Monza is more than 2.5 times bigger than the Central Park in New York City and invites to take a break from the hectic life.

In unseren neuen Reihe „GUIDE TO …“ möchten wir euch zusätzliche Informationen über die Veranstaltungsorte der GP2 Series 2015 geben. Ihr erfahrt mehr über die Rennstrecken, den Eventzeitplan aber auch über die in den meisten Fällen die faszinierende und geschichtsträchtige Lage der einzelnen Strecken.

Heute präsentieren wir euch den Austragungsort des Großen Preis von Italien: Monza.

Das Autodromo Nazionale di Monza befindet sich im Königlichen Park von Monza und markiert das letzte Rennwochenende der Europa-Saison. Mit seinen 5,793 Kilometern Länge und Höchstgeschwindigkeiten bis zu 330 km/h ist es der schnellste Kurs im Kalender. Es ist ein einzigartiges Beispiel einer Rennstrecke, die Geschwindigkeit, Geschicklichkeit und Können vom Fahrer abverlangt, aber auch ein Herz und eine Seele hat. Die alte Steilkurve, auf der zuletzt in 1961 gefahren worden ist, und einige alte Tribünen sind immer noch zu sehen. Die Italiener nennen sie “La Pista Magica”, die magische Strecke, und wer jemals ein Rennen in Monza gesehen hat, wird zustimmen, dass die Atmosphäre einfach magisch ist. Die Metropole Mailand ist nicht weit entfernt und lädt zum Einkaufen und zum „Gelato“ essen ein. Aber auch die Altstadt von Monza mit den zahlreichen Pizzerien, Eisdielen und dem Dom ist einen Besuch wert. Der Parco di Monza ist 2,5 Mal größer als der Central Park in New York City und lädt zum Erholen vom hektischen Alltag ein.
