Today is a special day.
With deep gratitude and respect, I want to congratulate my Master, Grand Master Rigan Machado, on achieving the 9th degree red belt — a milestone that represents a lifetime dedicated to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, knowledge, and the growth of others.
Being among his senior students is a tremendous honor for me. My journey, as a 6th degree black belt and European coordinator, has been shaped not only by his technique, but above all by his values: loyalty, perseverance, and humility.
I have also had the rare and meaningful privilege of being among the few who, in recent years, have still had the opportunity to roll with him as a student — an experience I carry with deep respect and pride.
But beyond the Master, today I celebrate the man. The friend. The guide.

The Academy Rome – International Training Center

The third session of the Rigan Machado / So Sento R.A.P.I.D. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Coaching Course took place today at The Academy Rome, an international training center of excellence. This program continues to stand out in the European panorama for its teaching quality, methodological structure, and authoritative technical direction.
The course was led by Professor Antonio La Salandra, an official 6th-degree black belt recognized by Grand Master Rigan Machado and European Director of the Rigan Machado BJJ Association. His decades of experience in teaching operational and martial arts disciplines is establishing an innovative and highly effective training standard.
A unique teaching approach: logical, progressive, applicable
What makes this course radically different from traditional coaching programs is its perfect teaching structure, designed to transfer skills through a logical learning sequence that combines theory, practice, and real-world application.
The training model integrates:
✔ Study of the guards
Presented sequentially, with attention to the most effective transitions.
✔ Analysis of the positions
Broken down to their fundamental principles and connected to each other in a fluid and coherent manner.

6 hours of intense, technical, and shared Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Huge thanks to Prof. Lyle Gawley and Fermanagh Ju Jitsu for the warm welcome and excellent organization.

🔹 We started with the kids: a sport-specific game designed to be fun, but also focused on technical development.
🔹 Then came the adult gi session, dedicated entirely to half guard, connection, and structured control.
🔹 Finally, the no-gi session, focused on aggressive takedowns, relentless pressure, and one of my own creations: the Invisible Armbar.

🙏 Thank you all for the trust and great energy. It's always an honor to share my vision of Jiu Jitsu.

This September in ROME, we kick off the new Machado BJJ Instructor Course with official international certification!
📅 The course will be held over 5 non-consecutive Saturdays.

📍 Location: THE ACADEMY ROME, Via Paternopoli 54 – Rome, Italy

📜 Upon completion, participants will receive: ✔️ Official certification from the International Rigan Machado BJJ Association
✔️ Certificate from the RAPID Academy
✔️ Recognition from the ASI sports promotion organization (for Italian participants)

📚 The program will cover the technical, theoretical, and teaching methodologies of the Rigan Machado BJJ system, using the RAPID training method.

👊 The course will be led by Prof. Antonio La Salandra, 6th degree black belt and direct student of Grand Master Rigan Machado.

🗣️ The course will be taught in both Italian and English.
