Even a small fitting requires the right solution.
For the AvioGyro fuel lines, I initially purchased some thin galvanized sheet-metal sleeves. For this particular application, however, I could not achieve the result I was looking for: the sleeve did not deform evenly enough during crimping and, when force was applied, the fitting could still rotate inside the hose.
So I decided to manufacture the sleeves myself on the lathe, using 6061 aluminum, with a thickness of 1.8 mm and a slight flare at the entrance.
The flare also makes it easier to insert the sleeve into the hose. When the hose is cut, the stainless-steel braided mesh tends to spread out, making it difficult to insert the sleeve cleanly.
To prepare the end of the hose properly, I use the circular clamp of an air-conditioning pipe flaring tool. It holds the hose securely while I trim and cut it with a small grinding wheel.
Once prepared, the sleeve is crimped using a hydraulic crimping machine, with the appropriate die for the size.
The final result is exactly what I was looking for: a clean, even crimp, with no rotation of the fitting inside the hose.
It is not a question of saying that one system is right and another is wrong. Simply, for this specific application, I developed the component that allowed me to achieve the result I wanted.

Anche un piccolo raccordo richiede la sua soluzione.
Per le linee di alimentazione dell'AvioGyro avevo inizialmente acquistato dei manicotti in lamierino zincato. Per questa applicazione, però, durante la crimpatura non riuscivo a ottenere il risultato che cercavo: il manicotto non si deformava in modo sufficientemente regolare e, facendo forza, il raccordo riusciva ancora a ruotare all'interno del tubo.
Ho quindi deciso di realizzarli personalmente al tornio, utilizzando alluminio 6061, con uno spessore di 1,8 mm e una leggera svasatura all'ingresso.
La svasatura serve anche a facilitare l'inserimento del manicotto .
