Take your child's goalkeeping to the next level with specialist goalkeeper coaching led by former player and coach Rui Sousa, who brings playing and coaching experience from Portugal and Madeira which includes AD Machico and CS Marítimo alongside experience working with local clubs and players in Jersey.

These 90-minute group sessions are designed to provide young goalkeepers with high-quality, specialist training in a positive and challenging environment. Players will develop their technical ability, decision-making and confidence while also benefiting from realistic goalkeeper-specific practices and learning alongside other players.

Sessions will focus on the key technical and tactical areas every goalkeeper needs to master:

🧤 Footwork and movement
🧤 Positioning and angles
🧤 Diving and shot stopping
🧤 1v1 situations

🧤 Playing out from the back
🧤 Decision making and communication
🧤 Reactions and second-ball situations
🧤 Match-specific goalkeeper scenarios

Rui's coaching approach is focused on individual development within a group environment, ensuring players receive feedback and guidance while being challenged through realistic, game-based practices.

Whether preparing for trials, academy football, improving match-day performance or simply wanting to become a more confident goalkeeper, these sessions provide an excellent opportunity to develop the skills and mindset required to perform at a higher level.

FROM JERSEY TO THE NEXT LEVEL ⚽️ Anita Tavares

Anita is another example of the long-term player development journey here in Jersey.

I first worked with Anita when she was around 10 years old, helping her develop her technical ability, confidence and understanding of the game.

Since then, she has continued to progress through the women's game and has now taken another important step in her journey by signing for Chorley Women FC

FA National League Division One North

This represents another example of how providing girls with the right coaching, opportunities and support at a young age can help them progress towards higher levels of the women's game.

AN EXCITING NEW CHAPTER

Chorley Women are also entering an exciting period of development, with England Lionesses and Manchester United Women player Ella Toone, joining the club as Creative & Strategic Advisor.

Her role will support:

🎓 Education & mentorship
🤝 Community engagement
📈 Strategic partnerships
🎥 Creative storytelling

Toone's vision is centred around creating more opportunities for young girls to dream bigger and helping build the future of women's football within the community.
