Our Reserves extended their recent unbeaten run to three games with a 2-0 win in the JFA Bowl against 35s, whilst our 35s came away with a point in a keenly contested home game against 35s, in this weekend’s fixtures.

In the game at Riley Field, our Reserves started brightly but didn’t turn the pressure into an advantage and allowed Trinity to get back into the game as the half wore on, until broke the deadlock around the half hour mark, which settled the team going into half time.

Second half was a more organised effort, where our solid defensive unit gave the chance to settle the outcome with a coolly taken finish with around twenty minutes remaining.

In the 35s game at Le Couvent, Grouville started fast and their early pressure was rewarded with a two goal lead, which looked ominous for the hosts, until ‘Beast’ went full ‘Beast Mode’ with a quick fire brace to equalise just before half time.

An entertaining second half couldn’t produce a winner, despite the end to end nature, with the woodwork being employed at both ends, alongside some fine saves from both keepers late on.

Up next for the 35s is at Riley Field on Saturday, with the ressies away to the following weekend.

Our Reserves followed up last week’s epic 4-4 encounter with a hard fought 1-0 win at Grouville.

The game marked the keenly anticipated return of and to the coaching setup and the ‘homecoming’ (although not actually a home game…) couldn’t have started any better, with man of the match sliding the ball in from close range following a corner in the fourth minute.

Both teams showed moments of quality, in a game where defences were generally on top. Whilst we started the game fairly well, Grouville came back into it second half but neither team could add to Dimz’s early goal.

Grouville thought they’d rescued a point late on with a great strike from range but midfielder deputising in goal after a raft of injuries in the Rozel Rovers goalkeeping department, pulled off a spectacular save to deny Grouville a share of the spoils.

After a difficult start to the season, the boys look to continue the good run with rearranged cup fixture with 35s at Riley Field on 8th November.

After a couple of weekends, free from fixtures, Rozel Rovers Men’s First Team returned to action with a home league fixture welcoming the visit of

St John’s looked to continue from a dominant midweek win to unsettle the hosts and duly took the lead with an expertly taken finish to put the hosts on the back foot

Having started slowly and fallen behind, Rozel quickly realised that if they were to continue their perfect start to their campaign they would need to play with more intent and pace on the ball and with more aggression and concentration our of possession

With a renewed application to the game, Rozel were able equalize early and from there on in, dominate proceedings in what was potentially their best performance so far this season

For the third successive game, the scoreline read 7-1 to the boys in blue and white to keep their perfect run in tact

Rozel Rovers men’s first team recorded a successive 7-1 victory in the space of 7 days with an impressive win in the Jersey FA cup against a battling

In extremely blustery conditions, Dragoes opted to play in to the wind in the first half, with Rozel looking to stamp their authority early on.

Rozel, through their young prospect Harry McKenzie who has been making waves in recent weeks with his inclusion in several Jersey Bulls squads, were 4-0 up within 20 minutes with McKenzie expertly netting all 4 goals, including a fine strike in to the top corner to complete an early hat trick.

However, against both the run of play and the considerable wind, dragoes pulled a goal back just before half time with a well worked team move and smart finish, ensuring that Rozel would need to work hard against the conditions to preserve their lead in the second half.

A calm and composed half time team talk from manager Jody McCarthy and assistant Joel Hayward enabled Rozel to come out in the second half and manage the game to such an extent that they were able to extend their lead through two unfortunate own goals from Dragoes as well as Spencer Gray rounding off an excellent team move to see Rozel continue their strong start to the season.

With thanks as always to our opponents
