Hey Parents: MYSTL is ON this evening at the Airport Playing fields. Touch is a great way for those who've played rugby and those that have never tried to develop skills and have fun. The more players the better. Please spread the word....bring your kids, ask them to tell their mates to come up.

These MYSTL kids need an adult to volunteer to do a bit of admin on Wednesday evenings, in particular to take the register, record squads and scores. Please help. DM us here.

We’re keen to find a few people who’d be willing to take over the running of “MYSTL” – the Mixed Youth Summer Touch League.
This is a great opportunity to give kids a chance to play Touch rugby and have some summer fun
Likely dates are May 7th until the end of term.
MYSTL has run for three seasons now. It’s been a great success, with about eighty players turning up each Wednesday evening, learning and playing Touch.
Touch is a great non-contact format of rugby that has enabled us to mix girls and boys from Y7 to 9 into four even squads who then compete in the League over eight weeks or so. We’ve also run Junior MYSTL for Y5 & 6 to help the younger age groups have fun whilst developing skills.
Please take a look at the pictures on this site. They tell the story.
MYSTL’s motto is: Have fun, learn new skills, get fitter.
And it works. All the kids who’ve participated have done just that and have become better rugby players as a result. It’s also led to some representing Jersey in international and inter-insular competitions.
MYSTL is a collaboration between the JRFC M&Js and the Jersey Touch Association (JTA). The wonderful coaching/reffing group have all been JTA/M&J coaches, and they do a great job. We’ve had a group of about ten people coaching and reffing games.
But the whole thing all takes a bit of organising. We need to recruit a few new volunteers, as those who’ve done the planning, communications and admin since we started have now stepped down.
It’s very worthwhile and rewarding work and we’d really like you to think about volunteering to take on one of these roles:
1. MYSTL Lead Organiser – you could be a Coach or Manager; it would help if you’d played some Touch, but you don’t have to be an expert, and it’s not essential. The task is primarily to plan and oversee the sessions and fixtures and manage coach allocation for each squad;
2. MYSTL Manager – someone to oversee initial registrations and then keep tabs on attendance each week, plus communicating with parents and guardians;
3. Junior MYSTL Organiser and Lead Coach – Someone to run sessions for Y5 & 6 kids. Mainly about fun games and skills development. We’ll also need some coaches to help with this group.
There’s a need for some “marketing & pr” to promote MYSTL, which we’ve done on social media, in the JEP, on radio and in the schools. It doesn’t matter who does this, either the manager or organiser, as long as it’s done.
MYSTL has run on Wednesday evenings from 18.30 to 20.00, which seems to have worked well for everyone. Last season we were on Ps 4 & 5 at JRFC, where Mylo marks out Touch pitches. We have Touch balls, bibs etc.
This is worthwhile work and you’d have fun yourself as it’s great to see so many kids developing and playing really well.
Please DM us if you'd like to put your hand up to do this or if you have any questions.
