Our members have been busy and prior to the current storms, enjoyed some good fishing conditions. 15 of the 16 eligible species have been caught. August catches included bass, black bream, thick lips, thin lips, nice goldspot, mackerel, a good red mullet of 0.85kg for Mike Shearer, and a nice white bream of 1.19kg for Peter Baines.

The August bass of the month comp also went well. Neil Hutton added another good fish to his tally, as did Alessio Agostinis. Nick Bossy had a fine bass of 3.41kg just pipped by a fish of 3.49kg for Mike Shearer , who won this months case of beers🍺. Several divers are in close contention, and with two more rounds to go, there is all to play for.

Early in August we held the second of our three silverfish comps. Divers can enter only two bass, three grey mullet, three bream and three flatfish. Msls are well above legal sizes. Daniel Noble won the day with a good catch, adding to his weight from the first dive, he now has an almost unassailable lead.

The sun is shining but the sea conditions are pants at the moment. Hopefully it will improve soon.🙂
