Last year, I was stuck in a cycle that felt impossible to break

Construction job. Crap food. Partying on weekends.

My diet was basically 80% GYG and beers

(safe to say, half my blood type was guac).

I was tired, out of shape, and dragging myself through the week feeling like garbage.

The turning point? I saw a photo of myself with a uuuugee double chin. šŸ˜‚

Not gonna lie, it hit me hard.

I’d been avoiding mirrors, ignoring how I felt, and just coasting.

But seeing that picture? That was the wake-up call I needed.

I didn’t go all in with extreme diets or punish myself with hours of cardio. Instead, I started small:

Cut back on takeaways (yes, even GYG 🫠).
Trained consistently, even when I didn’t want to.

Focused on hitting protein and improving my sleep.

Fast forward to today: I’m 77kg, leaner, stronger, and finally feel like myself again.

It’s not just about the physical changes—my energy, confidence, and routines are night and day.

It wasn’t about perfection. I still had fun.

I still ate food I enjoyed.

But I stopped making excuses and started showing up for myself.

Ever told yourself, you’re just ā€œnaturally holding more body fatā€?

That’s exactly where Mark was before we started working together

A successful business owner in his 60s, Mark’s days were nonstop

I look back at these photos and honestly can’t believe how far I’ve come…

A year ago, I was in a completely different place … mentally, physically, emotionally

I’d moved to a new city, but instead of feeling excited, I felt trapped

My visa situation meant I had to work in construction, stuck in a job I hated, surrounded by people eating KFC for lunch every day and drinking every weekend

And not caring about their health

On top of that, I was in a toxic relationship that was draining every ounce of energy I had left

I felt weak, out of shape, and completely stuck in a rut

Injuries from overtraining in the past didn’t help either

To say I felt horrible would be putting it lightly

Fast forward to now, and everything’s changed

I’m here in Sydney, working in the industry I love

Helping people transform their lives, and building a version of myself I never thought possible

I’ve put my injuries behind me, I feel strong, confident, and absolutely at home in my own skin

This didn’t happen overnight

I had to stop making excuses, stop waiting for the ā€œperfect time,ā€ and start focusing on what really mattered

…consistency, direction, and accountability

Have you ever imagined what you could be capable of if you just went ALL IN?

ā€˜Confident with your top off down the beach’

It wasn’t that Pete hadn’t been trying

He had. A LOT.

He just lacked the system needed to be able to reach this transformation in a way that worked, without over restriction or confusing dietary advice

See, going t-total doesn’t work > You start with good intentions, but you’re back at square one after a couple of weeks

And it certainly didn’t work for Pete

-Social occasions
-Last minute plan changes
-Family get-togethers
-The occasional pint watching the footy

It simply wasn’t manageable to follow an approach that was based solely on what he couldn’t do or have

This is where my personalised 1-1 strategy was vital, which is what was built around Peter’s busy work schedule, family and social life

With personal adjustments to his nutrition in the face of trips away, Pete had strategies for every outing or occasion, all he had to do was follow the plan

Sometimes you need to face that going things alone, isn’t getting you anywhere…

was stuck in the endless cycle of trying to lose weight, slipping off track, and starting again every Monday

Week after week, month after month, it was the same story:

āŒ No structure
āŒ No plan
āŒ No progress

It left Ben feeling

What other coaches won’t tell you about alcohol… šŸ·āŒ

Let me start by saying

I’m all about moderation. I’ll never tell you to give up the foods (or drinks) you love completely

But if you have serious hopes of dropping body fat, there’s one thing you absolutely need to limit:

Alcohol

šŸ‘‰ It’s empty calories. No protein, no nutrients, just extra energy your body doesn’t need.

šŸ‘‰ It wrecks your sleep, messing with recovery, fat-burning, and hunger hormones (hello, cravings)

šŸ‘‰ It lowers testosterone, which makes building and maintaining muscle harder

šŸ‘‰ It destroys decision-making. One drink leads to another, then junk food, then skipping the gym.

But let’s go deeper: many people use alcohol as an escape

If you find yourself constantly thinking about your next drink, there may be underlying issues you’re masking by drinking

The truth? Life’s full of challenges

Tragedies are guaranteed for all of us. Using alcohol as a coping mechanism in your 20s and 30s can set you up for trouble down the line

Instead of masking problems, face them head-on, your future self will thank you

The occasional drink is fine. But don’t expect to hit your goals if wine, beer, or cocktails are part of your regular routine
