The week before week 1.

I took some time off over the festive period which was probably much needed, although mentally challenging.

I’m planning a big 2025, with both strength and endurance targets.

Last week I did one strength session and put some miles in on feet.

Monday - Strength

Back Squat

1 x 10 @ 60%
1 x 10 @ 65%
2 x 8 @ 70%

5 RFT

7 Burpee Pull Ups
15 Front Squats @ 52.5kg
50 Double Unders

Tuesday - Rest

Wednesday - Rest

Thursday - Run

10km

Friday - Run

5 x 1km @ 5km pace
90s rest b/t sets

Saturday - Run

Progressive Half Marathon

Sunday - Rest

I’m looking forward to getting back to it from tomorrow with lots of work to do to make these targets possible. I will be sharing more of my training for those that care. 👍

Can you guess what I am training for?

My haircut may have changed, but my philosophy hasn’t.

This is why I have created a 12 Week Half Marathon + Strength Programme that is designed to help you improve your half marathon and increase your strength numbers concurrently.

Whether it is completing your first half marathon without sacrificing your strength gains, looking to take your running to the next level alongside new found strength in the gym, or you are looking to build a strong aerobic capacity and a solid foundation of strength, this programme will help you achieve your goals.

To celebrate the new year, the first 25 downloads who use the code ‘2025HALF’ will receive 50% off.

The Hospice 2 Hospice Half Marathon is also just 12 weeks away, and with a start date of Monday 30th December (which you can control), this programme ties in perfectly to culminate on race day.

However, you don’t need a date in the diary. The programme will finish with you running a Half Marathon of your own.

The link to sign up to the programme is below.

Be fast as only the first 25 subscribers will receive 50% off.

Fixing Muscular Imbalances 15/06/2020

Fixing Muscular Imbalances Muscular imbalances are very common amongst athletes and every-day gym goers. Most common and most noticeable imbalances are bilateral. Bilateral is defined as concerning both sides of the body or body part (Oxford Dictionary of Sports Science and Medicine, 2012) . This is portrayed most commonly as...

The Physics of Strength Training 08/06/2020

The Physics of Strength Training The Oxford Dictionary of Sports Science and Medicine defines strength as; “The ability of a muscle to exert force and overcome a resistance.” To better understand strength and strength training, you must first understand Newton’s second law of motion, commonly known as the law of acceleration....

Is it necessary to know your 1 rep max in order to build strength? 01/06/2020

Is it necessary to know your 1 rep max in order to build strength? So, a 1RM is something that most gym goers and people who weight train care about. “How much do you bench bro?” is a question that I am sure you have been asked! Obviously in sports like Olympic Lifting and Powerlifting it is essential to be familiar with, and training close to a 1RM in order to...

IS YOUR TRAINING STARTING TO PLATEAU?

The Law of Accommodation - The response of a biological object to a given constant stimulus decreases over time.

Here are 5 ways that you can combat this;

CHANGE THE EXERCISE - Change your lifts every 4-6 weeks. For example bench press could become floor press or weighted dips.

CHANGE THE WEIGHT - As little as an extra 1kg on the bar and performing the same reps can work wonders.

CHANGE THE REPS - Alternatively change the reps that you perform. Add some reps or add more weight (5-10kg +) and lower the reps.

USE DIFFERENT EQUIPMENT - Switch the equipment that you use to perform the exercise. For example use a safety squat bar for squats or a trap bar for deadlifts instead of a barbell.

EXERCISE VARIATIONS - Can be as simple as changing the grip you perform a lift with. For example close and wide grip bench press instead of your regular grip.

Give some of these a try and continue to see progress with your training! 💪

What are you training for? 25/05/2020

What are you training for? I get asked this question all the time, and when meeting new clients’, it is also a question I am sure to ask. 'So, what are you training for?'
