HOT WEATHER & HIGH TIDE = WATER TRAINING

30+ degrees all week PLUS high water...so despite the sea being 14.5 centigrade..we piled into the water for 60mins training.

WATER SOLUTIONS are pretty much the same as land, however there are some important differences based on the A) the problem B) how deep in the water you are.

We worked on...
- front choke (deep water)
- rear headlock (waist/ chest high water)
- side headlock (waist/ chest high water)

Good times!!

FULL NELSON CONTROL
USE & ESCAPES

The Full Nelson Headlock is a little bit out of fashion these days. It used to be a common application for restraint, but its no longer used by police/ security and is banned in grappling sports.

Why? Because its so dangerous. It applies significant pressure to the neck/ spine. Serious injury is common.

Controlling the arms in a Full Nelson denies the aggressor the opportunity to puts hands in pockets. It is also effective at controlling & pain compliance.

Early escape is always best. Posturing up and denying the body fold allows for the basic solution.

If you are late and bent over there are a couple of takedown/ throw options (not shown here) which are super effective. Ultimately, be hard to pin down, work hard to escape and apply self-defence principles.

ATTACHED STRIKING!
THURSDAY FIGHT LAB

Alot violence struggles include attachments at some point. Can be beginning, middle or end.

The main problem of having an aggressor attach to you is stability. They have the leverage and potentially an advantage.

Striking from attached is a skill. It needs to be practiced. Alot of the fancy stuff doesn't work when you're being ragged around.

Four important things when attached:

1. Stabilise - dont get pulled to floor/ off balance
2. Shielding - solid defence. Protect the head
3. Counter - strike back hard when the opportunity presents itself
4. Grips - strip/ break their grip if safe to do so.

Attached Striking requires practice. IT SUCKS! but we love the suck.

POST CLASS DRILLING (INSTRUCTORS)

As an instructor I dont always get to train krav as much as id like, so once class is finished, I always try and rep through a number of drills & positions relevant to that days class

Can be resistance or just partner drilling.

Here im practicising responses & solutions to threats or attacks while the attacker is either beside or standing over me. Maybe punching or kicking. Sometimes just threatening.

Solutions include regaining guard, creating distance, counter strikes, knee and ankle locks, wrestle ups & takedowns. All responses & solutions based on the immediate problem.
