It’s official, I’m a certified level 4 nutrition coach 🤓🍏
Without a doubt, one of the best decisions I’ve made to further my career in health and fitness. This course has given me a new focus and direction to push on and be the best coach I can be.
A big thank you must go to the team at because without their help and support these last 12 months wouldn’t be possible. Also, thank you and well done to everyone on the May 2020 cohort with me 👏

Can fat loss be targeted? 🎯
This is a question I’ve been asked twice in the last 7 days so I thought I’d write a little post about it.
So.....can fat loss be targeted? Quite simply the answer is NO ❌
There is no evidence to support this idea that you can burn fat from one body part over another. The human body just doesn’t work that way.
To put it simply, doing 500 crunches won’t burn abdominal fat, no amount of tricep dips will get rid of those dreaded bingo wings.
Regular strength training and consistency with your nutrition will help you lose weight from your entire body and in the process you will get fitter, stronger, leaner and healthier 💪

The deadlift.
One of the best exercises for strength and power.
The deadlift gives individuals the confidence that they can lift heavy objects off the floor.
However, just this last week alone I’ve seen a variety of bad deadlift set ups which carries over to a poor / dangerous deadlift.
The first picture shows a good start position, the second and third pictures show the most common faults I’ve seen with a couple of cues to try and correct the errors in set up.
Let me know your thoughts 💭 or if I can help you further.

It’s tempting to try and ‘fix’ or ‘undo’ overindulging by underrating or exercising today but that just sets you up for more failure.
The way to break the cycle is to stop being so restricted.
We tend to focus on avoidance rather than look at what is causing us to over eat.
This weekend was Easter, enjoy the break from work, training, diet etc and get back on track and have a cracking week.

It’s a new month so time to set a new goal or goals. Comment below your goal and I’ll help hold you accountable.

Single Arm Dumbbell Row
Want a stronger back and grip - Dumbbell Row.
Want to improve your Pull Ups - Dumbbell Row.
Want to improve your posture - Dumbbell Row.
But make sure you do them correctly.
1. Check your back - Is it flat or excessively arched.
2. Shoulders - Are your shoulders level or are you leaning to one side? Let’s stay level.
3. Your core - A braced core is your best defence against a back injury.
4. Check your neck - Your neck is part of your spine. Make sure it is neutral and inline with the rest of your spine.

Common dietary advice almost always revolves around foods to avoid.
Whether it is Paleo fans avoiding processed foods, Keto fans avoiding carbohydrates or low fat diet fans avoiding high fat foods.
Of course, all these methods can result in weight loss IF the foods they are avoiding result in a substantial decrease in calorie intake.
This is not necessarily evidence that those foods are BAD and NEED avoiding.
There is something of a success bias. If someone gets results via one method, they may think that method is the best, not realising that it is just one way of skinning a cat.
If someone wants to avoid certain foods for whatever reason, they are of course more than welcome but telling other people they NEED to avoid them is often not justified and can promote a culture of food paranoia.
Long-term success is always achieved through adherence and whilst avoiding foods may give the desired results in the short-term you should weigh up whether it is going to make things harder for you in the long run.
