The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) is pleased to announce that Jamaican rally driver Horatio Brown has officially joined the Club’s initiative, further strengthening Jamaica’s presence on the regional and international motorsport stage while supporting national recovery efforts.
Brown will contest the full 2026 Barbados Rally Championship (BRC) season piloting his Citroën C2 S1600. The JMMC commends a competitive second race weekend for Jamaican rising star Alex Powell in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship, highlighted by a podium finish and a solid points haul despite mixed fortunes across the three races.
Powell showed strong pace from the outset during qualifying, securing fourth place in both qualifying sessions, placing him firmly in contention for podium results. His team noted that the qualifying performance gave Alex “a good chance to fight for podiums in the upcoming races.”
That potential was realized in Race 1, where Powell delivered a controlled and consistent drive to finish third, earning his first podium of the weekend. Reflecting on the result, Powell commented, “A podium to start the weekend! Nice and consistent race today but we gotta find some more for tomorrow.” The result placed him P10 on the grid for Race 2, setting up a recovery drive through the field.
Race 2 proved challenging, as an on-track incident resulted in Powell losing positions and receiving a five-second time penalty, leading to a non-scoring finish.
Powell responded positively in Race 3, producing a composed drive to finish sixth and close out the weekend on a stronger note. Summarising the weekend, his team noted: “Not the end of the weekend we were hoping for. An incident with Sano in race 2 caused Alex to lose positions and gain a 5 second penalty, but the P6 in race 3 means that Alex leaves this weekend P3 in the standings. Onto Dubai next week!”
Despite the setback in Race 2, Powell’s performances across the weekend have moved him into third place in both the Overall and Rookie Championships, as the Formula Regional Middle East Championship heads to Dubai for the next round.
