Today, our community joined the family, friends and people of St. Mary in saying farewell to the Hon. Hyacinth May Knight, former Member of Parliament for Western St. Mary.

Her life was one of service. As an educator, community builder, councilor, Mayor, Member of Parliament and later Chairman of the Local Government Services Commission, Mrs. Knight devoted almost half a century to serving St. Mary and Jamaica.

For those of us looking on from the communities she served, her legacy is found not only in the offices she held, but in her commitment to people, her willingness to give back and the many lives touched throughout her years of public service.

Today, as she was laid to rest, we remember a daughter of St. Mary who gave much of her life to the development of her parish and country.

May God comfort her children, family, friends and all who mourn her passing, and may her life of service continue to inspire future generations.

A life of service. A legacy that will be remembered.

Rest in peace, Hon. Hyacinth May Knight.
