今日は出港前に大雨、ダイビング中は晴れたものの、ダイビング後にはまた大雨。最近の天気はコロコロと良く変わります。ということは風向きもコロコロ変わるということで、これはなかなか気を使います。
今日は竹富南から始まりました。なんと2ヶ月以上ぶり‼❗️。そして透視度最高の青い水に明るい砂地。そのあとは西表に行ってから午後に川平へ。マンタには会えませんでしたが、どこも水は青く清々しいダイビングとなりました。

Another day of southerly winds, so we headed toward the north side of Ishigaki. ☀️🌊

Our first dive was beneath the lighthouse, followed by Manta Scramble. One manta happened to cruise by—but amazingly, the only people who saw it were our two Discover Scuba Diving guests! 😆 Unfortunately, all of our certified divers missed it... Sometimes diving really is all about being in the right place at the right time! 😫

In the afternoon, we cruised over to Iriomote to enjoy the seasonal schools of cardinalfish, which are still going strong. 🐠✨

Tomorrow marks the beginning of September, and the forecast suggests more typhoons may develop in the weeks ahead. With conditions changing almost daily, we'll continue checking the forecasts carefully and, as always, putting safety first.

今日も南風。目指すのは島の北側です。

まずは灯台下、2本目はマンタスクランブル。一枚の通りすがりマンタを見たのはなんと体験ダイビングのお客さまおふたりだけ。ファンダイバーの皆さまは見られませんでした…😫。こんなこともあるんですね。午後はまだまだ旬のテンジクダイを見に西表島まで船を走らせました。

明日より9月です。この先も台風が次々に発生するような予報が出ています。毎日のように変わる天気予報を注意して確認しながら、安全第一で行ってきます。

The sunshine was intense today! ☀️‼️ On the boat, it felt like you could get sunburned in no time without staying in the shade.

At **Nagura Bay**, we found two surprisingly out-of-season **cuttlefish**, while **Sukuji Bay** was full of green sea turtles. 🐢

And at **Manta City**, we were lucky enough to see a manta again for the **second day in a row**! 😍 It cruised right in front of us with **two large remoras** attached underneath—and even treated us to a rather impressive bathroom break along the way! 😅

Quite a performance, but we'd still love to see it again tomorrow! 🤞🌊

今日の日差しは強烈でした☀️‼️。船上では日陰にいないとすぐに肌が焼けてしまいそうです。名蔵湾では季節外れのコブシメが2匹。底地湾ではアオウミガメが多かったです。そしてマンタシティでは昨日に引き続きマンタに会えました。大きなスギを2匹お腹に抱えて目の前を泳いでくれるだけでなく、大量の落とし物まで披露してくれる大サービス付き😅。それでも明日もまた会いたいですね。

It was a mostly cloudy day in Ishigaki. There was more swell on the north side than yesterday—quite different from the forecast—but conditions were still good enough to dive at **Manta City**. 🌊

And what a dive it was! Not only was the water beautifully clear, but **two manta rays** were there to welcome us! 😍

In fact, the visibility was excellent at all three dive sites today, making every dive feel fresh and refreshing.

Let's hope these beautiful conditions continue! 😄🤞

曇りがちの一日。昨日より北側にはうねりがあって予報とは違っていましたが、マンタシティで潜るには問題なし、キレイな水だけではなく2枚のマンタが迎えてくれました。3本とも水がキレイでさわやかそのもの。これが続いてくれればいいのですが…。

**Typhoon No. 18** has moved away and made landfall in China, and sea conditions around Ishigaki improved dramatically compared with yesterday. Even the northerly swell had become much smaller—a very welcome surprise! 😄🌊

We were able to make it to **Kabira** today. Although the manta rays didn't appear, the water was beautifully clear—another pleasant surprise after the typhoon! 😅

In the afternoon at **Sukuji Bay**, we spotted **three green sea turtles together**, while one lucky team encountered **two grey reef sharks**, a relatively rare sight around Ishigaki! 🐢🦈

The ocean often gives us unexpected surprises before and after a typhoon—and today was certainly one of those days! 😂

台風18号が海を離れて中国大陸に上陸したので、昨日と比べて海況が大幅に良くなってきて北側のうねりも小さくなっていました。嬉しい驚きです。

川平に行って潜りことができました。マンタには会えませんでしたが、水がキレイでこちらもいい意味で予想が外れて嬉しかったです😅。午後の底地湾ではアオウミガメを同時に3匹見ただけでなく、石垣では珍しいオグロメジロザメ2匹を発見したチームも。台風前後は予想外のことが起こりますね😂。

The weather improved today, bringing back the sunshine and heat to Ishigaki. ☀️ However, Typhoon No. 18 is still over the East China Sea, and a large northerly swell continues to reach the island, so we couldn’t go any farther north than Osaki.

Our first dive at Osaki had better visibility than expected—but also a surprisingly strong current! For the second dive, we visited Nagura Drop for the first time in a while and encountered several different species of trevally. 🐠

In the afternoon, we slowed things down with a relaxing dive over the shallow coral reefs of Nagura Bay. 🪸

Hopefully the sea conditions will improve little by little from tomorrow onward! 🤞🌊

天気は回復して晴れて暑いい一日となっと今日の石垣島。ただ台風18号はまだ東シナ海にいるので北側からは大きなうねりが打ち寄せてきていて大崎以北は行くことができませんでした。

1本目の大崎では予想以上の透視度ながら予想だにしない強い流れ。2本目は久しぶりに潜る名蔵ドロップ。数種類のアジに会えました。午後はのんびり名蔵湾の浅場のサンゴ。明日以降少しでも海況が良くなることを期待しましょう…！

A fairly strong northwesterly wind was blowing from early this morning, so we headed to the east coast of Ishigaki for today’s dives. 🌊

Mantas weren’t an option today, but there was still plenty to see—a large devil scorpionfish, lots of green sea turtles, a huge and very well-fed grouper, a whitetip reef shark cruising calmly by, and even a sea snake that came so close it nearly touched our fins! 😅🐢🦈

There was some underwater swell at Miyara, but conditions at Sakuraguchi were fine. Thankfully, the typhoon has shifted far to the north and away from Ishigaki.

We’re planning to head out again tomorrow, but as always, safety comes first. We’ll check the conditions carefully and enjoy another day of diving! 😄

北西から朝からそれなりに風が吹いてきていたので、今日は東海岸に行ってきました。

マンタには会える可能性はありませんでしたが、大きなエンマゴチにアオウミガメ多数，丸々と太った特大マダラハタ，悠然と泳ぐネムリブカ，フィンに当たるほど近くまで泳いできたウミヘビなどなど…。宮良では水中にもうねりが揺れましたが桜口は問題なし。台風が北に大きく逸れてくれたおかげです。

明日も出港予定ですが安全第一に気を付けて行ってきます。

This morning’s forecast brought some good news—the typhoon is now expected to pass well away from Ishigaki Island. What a relief! 😌 Of course, we’ll continue checking the sea conditions every morning before deciding whether it’s safe to head out.

The morning started with almost no wind and beautifully calm seas. Although the water was still a little murky, the countless small reef fish and the seasonal schools of cardinalfish around Iriomote were as lively as ever. 🐠

And in the afternoon at Manta City, we were treated to two manta rays circling around us again and again! 😆 A fantastic way to finish the day! 🌊

今朝の天気予報で、今後の台風の進路が石垣島からは大きく離れる予想に変わりました。一安心です。それでももちろん毎朝の海況を確認してから出港可否を判断します。

朝のうちはほとんど風がなく海は凪。水は濁っていたものの小魚たちや西表のテンジクダイは健在、そして午後のマンタシティでは2枚のマンタがぐるぐると回ってくれました😆。

Due to the strong winds from the suddenly formed Typhoon No. 20, we had to cancel diving yesterday. Thankfully, the wind eased today, and we were happy to head back out! 🌊😄

After two days of heavy rain, the shallow water was still a little murky, but once we descended, visibility was surprisingly decent.

Our first dive was at Osaki, where the resident green sea turtles were right where they usually are, even after the rough weather. 🐢 And at Manta City, we finally saw a manta ray again after quite a while! Seeing everyone return to the boat with big smiles always makes us happy. 😄

We finished the day beneath the lighthouse, where a whitetip reef shark cruised calmly by. A great day to be back in the water! 🦈☀️

急に発生した台風20号の影響で、強風のため昨日は中止といたしました。今日は風は収まってきたので元気に出港しました。この2日間大雨が降ったので、浅場の水は濁っていましたが潜ればほどほどの透視度。

1本目は大崎。海が荒れた後でもアオウミガメはいつもの場所にいてくれます。そして久しぶりにマンタシティでマンタに会うことができました。皆さま笑顔で船に戻ってくるので、嬉しいですね〜😄。午後は灯台下。ネムリブカが悠然と泳いでいました。
