Nishiyama’s journey began in a dojo in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, when he was just five years old. He continued developing as an athlete throughout his school years before progressing to Doshisha University, one of Japan’s institutions with a distinguished history in karate.

On the Karate 1 Premier League stage, Nishiyama has produced one of the most impressive records of recent years.

According to the Japan Karate Federation, he became the Premier League Grand Winner for five consecutive years from 2022 to 2026, an achievement described by the federation as the Japanese record for the number of consecutive annual titles.

The current WKF ranking record shows that Nishiyama has won 17 Premier League gold medals and 3 bronze medals, in addition to his continental gold medals and world title.

In the 2026 season alone, the Japanese star continued to assert his dominance, taking first place in Istanbul, Rome, Leshan and Rabat, before adding another Asian Championship gold medal in Bali.
