We are fortunate and blessed to host the Maîtrise choral group that was founded in 1285 whose purpose is to lead liturgical services at the Reims Cathedral. It now numbers 220 students from Gr. 2 to Gr. 9 enrolled at the Notre Dame school.

This special choral event will take place on Saturday February 1st, 2025 in the Saint Maur International School Auditorium with about 54 of them.

The event comprises a choral workshop hosted by La Maîtrise from 1:00 - 2:30 pm followed by a choral concert by the famed group from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. There is no fee to participate in the workshop (up to 40 may participate) or be an audience member for the concert (392 seats), however, donations are welcomed to support our Lights, Sound, Action fundraising campaign.

You are cordially invited to the concert as either a workshop participant and/or audience member. For those interested in being a part of the workshop, there are criteria to be able to participate. The details are included in the form.

Please fill out the RSVP form to indicate your desire to be a part of this wonderful and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Adults need to fill out this form on behalf of their child(ren).

RSVP registration will be available until Saturday January 26th, 2025, so make your reservation before the deadline for this special event.

The Christmas Bazaar, which is the Parent Support Group's main fundraiser of the year, is on Sunday 17th November 2024, from 10:00 to 16:00. We offer a variety of international foods, a thrift shop, kid’s games, face painting, a raffle, performances, music, vendors, storytelling, Santa's grotto, etc. This is a wonderful time to socialize with our community as well as get involved. Everybody is welcome and admission is free!

The 60th Anniversary

of Masanori Murakami’s Historic MLB Debut


On September 1, 1964, America witnessed the stunning Major League debut of 20 year old pitcher Masanori Murakami. An exchange trainee from the Nankai Hawks, he was playing with the Fresno Giants in the Single A California League when he was suddenly instructed to catch a flight to NY to join the San Francisco Giants in a game against the Mets. Appearing in the 8th inning of a night game at Shea Stadium, Murakami had only signed his MLB contract just hours before, having never met his new manager nor his teammates until then, much less participated in a team practice. Nevertheless, he was humming ‘Sukiyaki’ as he approached the mound and promptly struck out the next batter. Although it was to be his only inning that night in the Giants’ 4-1 loss, newspapers on both coasts were enthralled over the first Major League performance in the Major League by a Japanese player, and history was made.

Life in the Minor League up to this point had already been a dream come true for young Murakami whose enthusiasm for his time in California embraced not only baseball but all things American. Japan could not have found a better ambassador to startle America with Major League level skills no one in the MLB at the time thought was yet achievable in Japan. With an engaging personality and sense of humor which transcended the language barrier, he was quick to win over the hearts of San Francisco fans and triggered a surge in the Nikkei Japanese fan base, making him overnight one of the biggest endorsement and public appearance draws on the team.

In an organization bursting with Hall of Fame talents like Willie Mays, 13 years Murakami’s senior but sharing a birthday and who became his most cherished mentor, Willie McCovey, Orlando Cepeda, and Ga***rd Perry, Mashi, as Murakami was affectionately called, was an instant hit with both his new teammates and the public.

Murakami’s short but illustrious two seasons in the Bay Area remains a much beloved chapter in the San Francisco Giants’ history which continues to be celebrated to this day.
