Down But Not Out: John Waw

‘’I underwent two surgeries on the same knee, December of 2016 and January 2019. First with Chemelil Sugar FC and the second while playing for SoNy Sugar FC. After the second, the surgeon said I could continue playing- but dire consequences lay ahead. It wasn't an easy decision but I decided to call it a day.’’

‘’-I had already started coaching some young players at Dandora HotSpurs and Acakoro Academy while playing for Mathare United in 2014. So I thought it was better to transition from playing to coaching permanently.’’

A ligament tear, and a second ligament and meniscus tear ended Waw’s career at 31 years. He would dive into coaching with- at the time Div One side- Soy United between August 28th 2019 and September 20th, 2020.

He currently oversees the goalkeeping department at Sofapaka Football Club.
