On Wednesday 6th May Amina and I will be running a workshop together focusing on some simple healthy habits to incorporate into daily living which can make significant improvements in boosting metabolism and maintaining energy throughout the week. Amina is a Holistic Health Coach, and together we will be focusing on positive lifestyle choices that can benefit everyone in their busy lives, without making drastic, unrealistic and unmaintainable changes. I will be hosting a strength workout suitable for all abilities and Amina will provide an interactive workshop on the topic. Please join us for the morning in Karen to connect and refuel. Since getting into more serious running, I’ve followed more of a runners strength programme along side the running itself. It’s helped strengthen less obvious areas of my body which I didn’t realise were so critical to running - feet, calves and hip mobility & strength. Try incorporating some running specific strength exercises into your routine to see your running speed and endurance improve

Fab weekend with for the Lele Gravel Race. We called it a ride, rather than a race and enjoyed every minute of it. Lots of interactions with oncoming animals, some near misses and only 1 fall. Let’s plan the next one soon!

I had never run more than 10km, I never particularly enjoyed running, I would see if it as an efficient way of burning calories. Thanks to my husband, who signed me up for a half marathon, my last 3 months have consisted on running focused strength training and 3 runs a week (short run, interval run and a long run). I’ve been surprised at how my body has positively responded to the change in my training and has got me to where I need to be to run this half marathon. Feeling positive for my first race. See you at the start

For our “Workout Wednesday” session we focused on Unilateral exercises. This enables us to work on each side of the body separately, helping to correct muscle imbalances, improving balance and stability and preventing injury. It is important to incorporate unilateral exercises into your training programme, executing them with control and alignment. Great work today ladies!

Only 7 weeks to go for The Lewa Half…

My journey so far:
* Found a running buddy (big gain)
* Recommended a running app by my running buddy (massive gain)
* Completed my first 10k run ever
* Failed to complete a tempo run at 1pm in the heat of the sun, carrying 2L of water in my “new” running gear. All the gear and no idea!
* Jarred my neck. Saw sports therapist and sports physio (highly painful experience).
* Completed my first 13k ever (felt good)
* Completed my first 15k ever and can still walk. I think I’m getting there.
* My quads haven’t trained liked this before so they’re continually in shock but I trust the process and I’m seeing the results. Bring on the next 6 weeks!
