KENYA, Laikipia: In a photograph taken by Make it Kenya 24 November 2015, riders set off from Emboli Farm in Laikipia County, 250km north of the Kenyan capital Nairobi, on the fourth and final day of the Mt. Kenya Epik cycling challenge. The 4-day mountain biking adventure challenge race circumnavigates the Mount Kenya region and this inaugural event attracted both Kenyan and international riders from as a far afield as Norway and Japan. The Epik was established to attract sports tourism to the Mt. Kenya region and showcase what it has to offer the outdoor, extreme sports enthusiast while providing riders the opportunity to interact with local communities and witness some of the beautiful scenery and landscapes surrounding Mt. Kenya that otherwise might not seen. The two-man team of Kenyan riders Joseph Echuwa and Samwel Mwangi won the 300km, 4-day race crossing the finish line in 10hrs 31mins and 05secs. The date is fast approaching for the start of the 1st edition of the Mt. Kenya Epik which was set to take place from the 22nd to the 28th of November, 2015.
Your safety is of paramount importance to us and after careful consultation with the relevant authorities in the Mt. Kenya area; we have adjusted the event route, length and dates as follows to accommodate the erratic weather pattern currently being experienced.
The cycling event will now take part in four key stages:
Prologue: 21st November, 2015 - Start time: 9.30 am from Naro Moru River Lodge. ( Approx 35 km )
Day 2 and Day 3 of the event on Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd will take place in and around the Laikpia/Timau and Sirimon/Chogoria areas and will see the teams camp at Embori Farm in Timau on both nights. (Approx 80 km each day )
Start time on both days will be 7.00 am.
The final day, Tuesday 24th, will see the teams heading back to Naro Moru for the finish, starting off at 7.00 am. (approx 80 km)

In case you have not confirmed as yet, please contact us as below or log onto the website link: www.mtkenyaepik.com and complete your registration form. Payment for the full four day event will be Kshs 25,000/- per person. Payment details will be sent to you upon receipt of your completed registration form.
You are required to enter in a team of two. The fee above includes accommodation, all meals and transport where required from the start of the race on Saturday 21st until the end on 24th of November.
The fee does not include cycling equipment, personal clothing/effects a towel and a warm sleeping bag for yourself. While we will provide emergency medical back-up services, we will require that you show proof of adequate medical cover.
In the event that you are not able to take part in the full 4 day stage race, you will be able to participate in the prologue on 21st November or any of the legs on 22nd, 23rd and/or 24th November.
You will be required to register no less than half an hour before the start of the event at the relevant venue. Entry fee will be Kshs 1,500/- per person for a team of two.
Our main event host, Naro Moru River Lodge, will be providing special rates for those of you who would wish to stay over in Naro Moru or travel with your families before, during or after the event. Should you wish to take part in any of the stages, we recommend that you stay over the evening before in a location close to the venue.
