MY HEART IS BROKEN.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Joshua Aguko, who passed away an hour ago while seeking urgent medical attention at Mama Lucy Hospital.

Joshua was more than my driver. He was my personal friend, a trusted confidant, and someone my family and I could always count on. His loyalty, dedication and friendship meant so much to me, and words cannot adequately express the pain of losing him.

To those who knew me through politics, business and football, Joshua was part of my journey. He was also a true Gor Mahia fan whose passion for K’Ogalo I will forever remember.

My heart goes out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. I pray that God grants them strength and comfort as they navigate this painful loss.

Rest in peace, Joshua. You served me faithfully, stood by me, and became family. I will miss you more than words can say. Dhi gi kwe Wuod Kano.

Leeds came to fight, and for over 60 minutes, they gave Arsenal a serious reality check. But champions find a way, and my Gunners found theirs!

The response after conceding? CLASS. The substitutions? GAME-CHANGERS! And BRUNO came off the bench to deliver when it mattered most.

There’s something special about football under the floodlights. I honestly can’t remember the last time I watched a KPL league match at Nyayo under the lights. Finally, floodlit football is back courtesy of the Husband of Teams!

And what better way to bring it back than with K’Ogalo opening the season? The wait is over; this
Tuesday (weka ile sauti ya Baba Raila Amolo Odinga), we switch on the lights, turn up the noise and get the season started against Murang’a Seal.

The problem with Kenyan football is that the chaos may continue long after the final whistle. The bigger question now is: if this match is abandoned, which judicial body will have the mandate to hear and determine the matter?

With so much already at stake, we need clarity on the rules, the process and, most importantly, who has jurisdiction when things go wrong.

Kenyan football cannot afford another cycle of confusion, appeals and counter-appeals after the damage is already done.

I would like to see football where the rules are clear, the process is transparent, and let everyone know where the buck stops.

I’m not questioning the integrity of any official personally, but as a football stakeholder, I cannot ignore what naturally raises questions.

For today’s FKF Premier League/NSL promotion playoff return leg between Kariobangi Sharks and Mombasa United, CR John Sulwe has been appointed after officiating only five matches cumulatively over the last two seasons. AR Jane Cherono is also returning after serving a suspension in the FKF Premier League before being demoted to the NSL.

With so much at stake, appointments matter. They must not only be fair; they must also be transparent and inspire confidence.

I say this because we don’t want to leave our offices, travel to the stadium and sit through a match whose outcome football fans already believe has been determined. That is not good for the game, the clubs, the officials or the Federation.

FKF has the administrative mandate to make appointments, but stakeholders equally have a legitimate right to ask questions when decisions appear questionable.

I believe in fair play; not just for the 90 minutes, but in every process leading to those 90 minutes.

Let the game be decided on the pitch, not by perception before kick-off.

Transparency builds trust. Fair play must be seen, but it must also be believed.

Saturday’s gate collection for Gor Mahia Queens vs Hildana Queens at Dandora Stadium was KSh13,650, and yes, the Queens also delivered a sweet 2–0 victory

I have seen some people dismiss the figure as “paltry” on paper. But honestly, I see it differently. For a local women’s football match in the NSL, I think that figure is actually encouraging. It tells me something important: people are beginning to show up for the women’s game. And that, to me, is progress.

As someone who genuinely believes we must invest in and grow women’s football, seeing fans turn up, pay at the gate and support our Queens gives me hope that we are slowly building something bigger.

Now imagine what happens when corporates start seeing this potential and putting serious money behind Kenyan women’s football. The talent is already here. The hunger is already here. The audience is beginning to grow. What we need now is investment.

And our Junior Starlets qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup twice in a row is no coincidence. It tells us exactly what our girls are capable of when given the opportunity.

Truth be told, Kenyan women’s football has enormous potential; perhaps even more than we sometimes realise.

So, no, I won’t look at KSh13,650 and say “that’s too little.”
I’ll look at it and say:

“This is where it starts.”

Today KSh13,650. Tomorrow, packed stadiums. Then sponsors. Then serious investment. And eventually, a women’s game that commands the respect, visibility and resources it deserves.

The Queens are coming. And I believe in this journey.
