CONTRIBUTIONS OF EXERCISE TOWARDS MENTAL HEALTH.
In a world where mental health concerns are on the rise, finding effective strategies to support well-being is paramount. While therapy and medication play crucial roles, exercise has emerged as a powerful tool for nurturing mental health. Regular physical activity offers a multitude of benefits that can transform lives and promote emotional well-being.
Mood Enhancement and Stress Reduction:
Exercise has a remarkable impact on mood, acting as a natural antidepressant. Engaging in physical activity releases endorphins, the brain's feel-good chemicals, which elevate mood and reduce stress. Regular exercise helps alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, promoting a sense of calm and emotional well-being. It also provides a healthy outlet for stress, allowing individuals to manage and cope with life's challenges more effectively.
Building Resilience and Self-Esteem:
Engaging in regular exercise helps individuals build resilience and enhance their self-esteem. Setting and achieving fitness goals, improving physical performance, and witnessing personal progress fosters a sense of accomplishment and boosts confidence. The discipline and determination required for regular exercise translate into other areas of life, empowering individuals to overcome challenges and build a positive mindset.
Sleep Quality and Mental Restoration:
Quality sleep is essential for maintaining optimal mental health. Exercise has been shown to improve sleep quality by reducing insomnia symptoms and promoting restful sleep. Physical activity helps regulate circadian rhythms, reduces anxiety and depressive symptoms that can interfere with sleep, and increases the time spent in deep, restorative sleep. Adequate sleep allows the brain to recharge, leading to improved cognitive function, emotional stability, and overall mental well-being.
Boosting Cognitive Function and Brain Health
Exercise is not only beneficial for the body but also for the brain. Regular physical activity stimulates the production of neurotrophic factors, which support the growth and connectivity of brain cells. This leads to improved cognitive function.

Uncomfortable fact;
You don't need to train 5-6x a week to see results. As a matter of fact 3-4x a week is plenty.
Instead of focusing on training more focus on what you are doing outside the gym (sleep, nutrition) and you'll soon realize 3-4x a week is plenty to see results.

Gym Expectations vs. Reality: Why You Shouldn't Be So Hard On Yourself
You may have certain expectations about what you will accomplish when you walk into the gym. Maybe you think you'll be able to lift a new personal record or run a mile in under eight minutes. However, reality often doesn't match up to these expectations. You may struggle to lift weights or fall short of your running goal.
It's important to remember that everyone has different fitness levels and that it takes time to see results. Be patient, and don't be too hard on yourself - it's through consistency with your diet and workout routine that you eventually get the results you are after.
