From next season onwards, the Premier League and the Championship will have a 22-day break after Matchday 5.

FIFA has merged the September and October international breaks into a single window, which will run from 19 September to 10 October 2026.

In his post-match interview, Shabana FC's coach claimed that AFC Leopard’s fans disrupted his team’s momentum during yesterday’s match.

Do you think that affected the outcome? And based on the performance, was AFC Leopards the better side?

LETS BE HONEST!

Kenyans do NOT hate local football. That narrative is lazy.

When Shabana FC plays, stadiums fill. When they face giants like AFC Leopards or Gor Mahia, the energy is unmatched. That passion proves one thing: Kenyans DO love their local football.

But passion alone is not enough.
Poor officiating is costing teams. Referees are making mistakes week in, week out. Questions around match integrity and alleged fixing continue to damage trust in the league.

Then there’s security. During the AFC vs Shabana match at Nyayo National Stadium, teargas was lobbed into the stands, affecting children, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, and the elderly. Crowd control needs planning and professionalism, not panic reactions.
Yes, there is progress. But if we truly want our league to compete, sponsorship must be a priority. Serious investment means better facilities, better pay for players and referees, stronger grassroots systems, and a more competitive league.

Now we need leadership, structure, and real investment to match that passion.
If we want Kenyans to fully choose local football over foreign leagues, then: FIX THE LEAGUE.

Many Division 1 teams are currently facing financial challenges, making it difficult to honor fixtures across the country.

Greensnipers are appealing to well-wishers and fans for support to help them host their game tomorrow at Silibwet Stadium, Bomet County, citing insufficient funds to cover the necessary services for the match.

This situation highlights a broader issue affecting teams nationwide.

A key discussion needs to take place to ensure clubs do not struggle with long-distance travel and other logistical challenges.

One solution could be zoning the league to reduce travel burdens and make participation more sustainable for all teams.

Despite battling a serious typhoid outbreak within the camp, Greensnipers were docked points for failing to honor their fixture in Turkana, even after formally writing to request a postponement of the match.

Greensnipers Team Manager Aron Kipkoech Ngetich says he is not seeking special treatment, but is simply calling for fairness and consistency within the federation’s handling of such matters.

He maintains that clubs should be treated with understanding and transparency, especially in circumstances beyond their control.

Greensnipers Team Manager Aron Kipkoech Ngetich has strongly criticized the leadership of Muhoroni Youth and the Football Kenya Federation, describing their decision to end last week’s match due to heavy rains as unfair and mishandled.

He noted that the game was stopped in the 68th minute without providing an alternative venue to allow it to be completed.

Ngetich emphasized that at the time the match was halted, Greensnipers were leading 1–0 and believed they were in control of the game, arguing that they deserved to be awarded the points.

He maintains that the handling of the situation lacked fairness, transparency, and proper consideration of the match circumstances.

Both teams are Division 1
