In the 2016, although they were beaten by Usenge at the finals, the 2016 East African champions still proceeded at the regionals levels since Kisumu were the host county, and Kisumu Day were 2015 champions, the runners up for 2015 were also given a slot and that was Siaya County. This ensured that Barding proceeded as runners up.
The funny scenerio is that Barding stil faced Usenge in the regionals finals this time eliminating them to proceed to the nationals
