Mr. Zakayo Apwacha (white) served as our Games Master from 1989 to 2004. During that period, he was also a Swahili teacher at the school. He is remembered by alumni as the man who laid the foundation for St. Anthony’s rise as a sporting powerhouse.

In the mid-1990s, under Mr. Apwacha’s leadership, the school began to excel in co-curricular activities, particularly in sports. He fostered a culture of discipline and high standards in games, ensuring that teams were well-prepared and competitive at district and national levels. That era is often cited by alumni as the turning point when St. Anthony’s established itself as one of Kenya’s top schools for sports.

Mr. Apwacha’s legacy at St. Anthony’s is linked to the culture of excellence he cultivated during his 15 years as Games Master. While he stepped down in 2004, many alumni still associate the school’s golden era in sports with his tenure and the systems he implemented.

We honour Mr. Apwacha today as we prepare for the start of term two games, which will kick off on the 22nd of this month at zone level.

To the parents, guardians, and community, thank you for your continued belief in us. Your boys will make you proud once again.

The grounds of St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale erupted with joy and song as Senior Principal Mr. Simon Masibo led a spirited homecoming for Les Titans, the recently crowned Kenya Hockey Secondary School National Champions. From the gates to the fields, an electrifying sense of victory swept through the school and its surroundings, celebrating a team that made history at the Term 1 National Games in Kisumu.

In a nail-biting final, Les Titans edged out FSK Kamusinga with a dramatic 4-1 victory on penalties, bringing the coveted trophy back to Kitale and creating a moment that will be remembered forever. The excitement was contagious chants, drumbeats, and cheers filled the air as thrilled students and staff welcomed their champions home.

At the centre of this historic win was team captain Kelvin Onyango, whose standout performance lit up the tournament. Named both Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer, Kelvin was awarded a generous cash prize from Principal Masibo, honouring his leadership, resilience, and skill.

Principal Masibo couldn’t hide his pride. He praised hockey Mr Kevin Lugalia and Mr. Aseka for their unwavering dedication, acknowledging that their persistent efforts over three years had finally paid off. “This is the result of consistency, discipline, and belief,” he declared, as thunderous applause echoed around him.

Deputy Principal Mr. George Onsare shared the excitement, commending the team’s steadfast perseverance. “You’ve proven that persistence pays off today, it’s gold,” he told the players with admiration.

For Games Teacher Mr Daniel Oronje, the victory was deeply personal. Smiling with pride, he proclaimed that this team would always hold a special place in his heart the squad that gifted him his first National trophy as a games teacher within a year. “They earned every bit of this triumph. Their dedication, sacrifice, and brotherhood made them champions,” he said.

From classrooms to the playing fields, St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale is basking in the glory of champions. Les Titans didn’t just secure a trophy they set a new standard, inspired their school, and showed what belief and teamwork can achieve.

Hongera Les Titans! The crown is truly home.

This is a nostalgic reflection... James Muya and Moses Ella(white), class of 2009.

Moses Ella shares his thoughts:

"If I had access to the current opportunities at my former school, St. Anthony's Boys, I believe I could have reached a high level in European football.
The teachers, technical coaches, and everyone there are very supportive, and with such guidance, it's understandable why the team and many excel in the sport."

As the April holiday concludes, we encourage our students to review History and Government, with particular emphasis on the late former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. The upcoming social studies curriculum ahead of the 2026 KCSE will concentrate on Kenyan leadership. We hope to inspire students to learn more about their leaders.
