Toyota Corolla Sport. Stylish, fuel-efficient, packed with technology, and built on Toyota's impressive TNGA platform, it's everything modern drivers are looking for.
Then there's the Honda Insight, a hybrid sedan that quietly delivers luxury-level comfort, outstanding fuel economy, and one of the smoothest driving experiences in its class.
On paper, these two cars are rivals.
On Kenyan roads, however, they share the same challenge.
Both were designed in Japan with efficiency, aerodynamics, and road handling in mind. The engineers wanted them to sit low, cut through the air effortlessly, and maximize fuel economy.
Great idea.
Until they meet Kenyan speed bumps.
Suddenly, that sporty stance becomes a source of stress. Parking entrances need careful negotiation. Rough roads require patience. And once passengers or luggage come on board, the available ground clearance becomes even smaller.
That's where many owners begin searching for a solution.
And that's where we come in.
Over the years, we've upgraded numerous Honda Insights and Toyota Corolla Sports using our carefully selected heavy-duty coil springs. Not because the vehicles are poorly designed, but because Kenyan roads demand a little more from them.
Our springs do something simple but powerful.
They restore confidence.
Confidence when approaching speed bumps.
Confidence when carrying passengers.
Confidence when driving on rough roads.
Confidence when entering steep driveways.
Most importantly, they do all this without sacrificing the comfort, stability, and fuel efficiency that made you buy the vehicle in the first place.
The Honda Insight remains smooth, quiet, and economical.
The Toyota Corolla Sport remains sporty, stable, and responsive.
The only difference is that both become far better suited to real-world Kenyan driving.
Sometimes the best modification isn't adding horsepower.
Sometimes it's simply making a great car more practical.
And that's exactly what our springs do.

One of the most common questions we receive is:
"Can I just install spacers to increase my ground clearance?"
This Toyota Allion provided the perfect answer.
The owner had previously installed spacers in an attempt to solve a low ground clearance problem. And to be fair, the spacers did create some height. From a distance, the car appeared higher. The problem, however, was that the real issue had never been addressed.
The original coil springs had already weakened.
Like every suspension spring, they had spent years carrying the weight of the engine, passengers, luggage, and absorbing thousands of kilometers of road impacts. Eventually, they lost part of their original strength and the vehicle started sitting lower than Toyota intended.
Instead of replacing the tired springs, spacers were added.
Unfortunately, spacers don't make springs stronger.
They don't improve load-carrying capacity.
They don't restore suspension performance.
They simply create space.
Think of it this way: if a building's foundation starts sinking, adding a taller roof doesn't solve the problem. The foundation still needs attention.
The same principle applies to suspension systems.
When this Allion arrived at our workshop, the symptoms were obvious. The suspension still felt weak under load, the ride quality had deteriorated, and despite having spacers installed, the vehicle wasn't performing the way it should.
After a thorough inspection, we removed the spacers and focused on the component that actually supports the vehicle's weight the coil springs.
We installed a set of properly matched heavy-duty coil springs designed specifically to restore the vehicle's ride height and suspension performance.
The transformation was immediate.
The Allion regained its natural stance.
Ground clearance improved the correct way.
The suspension became firmer and more supportive.
Passengers and luggage could be carried comfortably without excessive sagging.
Most importantly, the vehicle felt balanced again.

Built around Mazda's advanced SKYACTIV Technology, the DJ5FS was engineered with efficiency, performance, and driving pleasure in mind. Every component was carefully designed to reduce weight, improve fuel economy, and deliver a more connected driving experience.
The result is a vehicle that feels agile in traffic, comfortable on the highway, and remarkably economical at the fuel station.
Its sleek design, premium interior, and refined handling have made it a favorite among drivers looking for something more exciting than the average compact car
However, like many modern Japanese imports, the Demio was designed for roads that are considerably smoother than what many of us encounter every day.
Over time, the combination of rough roads, speed bumps, passengers, luggage, and daily driving begins to take a toll on the suspension system. The original coil springs gradually lose some of their strength, causing the vehicle to sit lower than intended.
The symptoms are familiar to many Demio owners.
Speed bumps become stressful.
The front bumper gets dangerously close to the ground.
The vehicle struggles when fully loaded.
Comfort and confidence begin to disappear.
That was the challenge presented by this Mazda Demio DJ5FS.
The owner loved the fuel economy, handling, and overall driving experience, but wanted a solution that would improve ground clearance without sacrificing the qualities that make the Demio special.
After a careful suspension assessment, we replaced the weakened coil springs with properly matched heavy-duty units designed to restore ride height and improve load-carrying capability.
The transformation was exactly what the vehicle needed.
The Demio now sits noticeably higher. Ground clearance has improved significantly. The suspension feels stronger and more composed under load, while maintaining the comfort and stability that Mazda engineers worked so hard to achieve.
Most importantly, the vehicle remains true to its character.
It still drives like a Mazda.

Axio has built a reputation as a vehicle that starts every morning, sips fuel economically, and keeps maintenance costs manageable. Whether it's being used for daily commuting, business, family duties, or long-distance travel, the Axio consistently proves why it remains one of Toyota's most successful sedans.
Behind its simplicity lies smart engineering. Its lightweight construction, efficient powertrain, and well-balanced suspension system work together to provide a comfortable and predictable driving experience. It's the kind of car that quietly does everything well.
But time and road conditions eventually leave their mark.
Thousands of kilometers, countless speed bumps, rough roads, passengers, luggage, and everyday use gradually take a toll on the suspension system. The change is often so gradual that many owners don't notice it until the vehicle starts scraping bumps it once cleared effortlessly.
The ride height begins to drop.
The rear starts sagging under load.
Comfort reduces.
Ground clearance becomes a constant concern.
That was the situation with this Toyota Axio.
The vehicle had served faithfully for years, but the original coil springs had weakened and could no longer support the vehicle the way they were designed to. The result was reduced ground clearance and a suspension system working harder than necessary.
To restore the vehicle's performance, we replaced the tired springs with carefully selected heavy-duty coil springs designed to handle the realities of Kenyan roads.
The difference was immediately noticeable.
The Axio regained its proper stance. Ground clearance improved significantly. The vehicle became more stable under load and far more confident when tackling speed bumps, rough roads, and everyday obstacles.
Most importantly, the comfort and smooth ride that Axio owners love were preserved.
Today, this Toyota Axio sits taller, rides better, and is ready for many more years of dependable service.
Because a Toyota Axio isn't just built to last.

Some cars age. Others mature.
The Mazda Axela BL belongs to the second category.
Introduced as the successor to the popular BK series, the BL brought a more refined design, improved safety, better fuel economy, and a driving experience that immediately reminded everyone that Mazda builds cars for people who actually enjoy driving.
From the outside, the BL looks athletic even when parked. The flowing body lines, aggressive front-end styling, and wide stance give it a sporty appearance that still looks modern years later. Under the bonnet, Mazda paired this sleek design with reliable and efficient powertrains that made the Axela one of the most enjoyable cars in its class.
But what truly sets the BL apart is how it feels on the road.
The steering is responsive. The chassis feels balanced. The suspension was carefully tuned to provide both comfort and handling. Whether navigating city traffic or cruising on the highway, the Axela BL delivers the kind of confidence that keeps owners smiling long after purchase.
However, like many vehicles designed for Japanese roads, there is one challenge that eventually catches up with most Axelas.
Ground clearance.
As the years go by, the original coil springs gradually lose some of their strength. The vehicle begins sitting lower than intended. Speed bumps become obstacles. Loading passengers or luggage causes the rear to squat. The once-confident ride starts feeling less capable on rough roads.
That was the story of this Mazda Axela BL.
The owner loved the car's performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency but wanted to restore its ability to handle Kenyan roads without constantly worrying about scraping bumps or rough terrain.
After a thorough suspension inspection, we replaced the tired springs with carefully selected heavy-duty coil springs designed specifically to improve ride height while maintaining the handling characteristics Mazda is famous for.
The transformation was immediate.
The vehicle regained its proper stance.

Not every performance car announces itself with a loud exhaust or a massive engine. Some simply let their engineering do the talking.
The Nissan Note e-POWER NISMO is one such machine.
At first glance, it may look like an ordinary hatchback, but underneath lies technology that changed the way many people think about driving. Unlike conventional hybrids, the e-POWER system uses a petrol engine primarily as a generator while the wheels are driven by an electric motor. The result is instant acceleration, smooth power delivery, and impressive fuel economy all wrapped into one sporty package.
Then comes the NISMO touch.
NISMO, Nissan's motorsport division, took the already impressive Note and gave it a sharper personality. The suspension was tuned for better handling, the body styling became more aggressive, and the driving experience became more engaging. Every corner feels more confident, every acceleration feels more responsive, and every journey becomes a little more exciting.
However, there is one challenge that many owners quickly discover on Kenyan roads.
The sporty suspension setup and low ride height that make the Note e-POWER NISMO so enjoyable on smooth roads can become a concern when faced with speed bumps, rough roads, and steep driveways. Add passengers or luggage, and the ground clearance becomes even more noticeable.
That was the concern with this particular Note e-POWER NISMO.
Our goal was simple: improve ground clearance without taking away the sporty character that makes the NISMO special.
After a professional suspension assessment, we installed carefully selected heavy-duty coil springs that restored the vehicle's ride height while maintaining its comfort, stability, and handling characteristics.
The result was exactly what every Note NISMO owner hopes for.
A more confident stance.
Better clearance over bumps.
Improved load-carrying ability.
Enhanced everyday practicality.
Most importantly, the car still feels like a NISMO sporty, responsive, and fun.

At first glance, many people don't even realize they're looking at a hybrid. Unlike many hybrid vehicles that announce themselves with futuristic styling, the Insight takes a more sophisticated approach. Its flowing body lines, aerodynamic profile, and well-balanced proportions give it the appearance of a luxury sedan rather than an economy-focused commuter.
Beneath that elegant exterior lies one of Honda's most impressive innovations: the e:HEV Hybrid System. This intelligent powertrain seamlessly switches between electric and petrol power to maximize efficiency while maintaining a smooth and responsive driving experience. The result is exceptional fuel economy without sacrificing comfort or performance.
On the road, the 2021 Insight feels remarkably mature. The cabin is quiet, the steering is precise, and the suspension is tuned to absorb road imperfections while maintaining excellent stability. Every journey feels effortless, whether navigating city traffic or cruising on the highway.
However, like many modern hybrid sedans designed for efficiency and aerodynamics, the Insight sits relatively low to the ground. This low stance improves fuel consumption and handling, but on Kenyan roads, it can present challenges. Speed bumps, steep driveways, rough access roads, and heavy loads can quickly turn an enjoyable drive into a cautious exercise.
That was the concern with this particular Honda Insight.
The owner wanted to preserve everything that makes the Insight special while improving its ability to handle everyday road conditions with confidence. After a thorough suspension assessment, we upgraded the vehicle with carefully selected heavy-duty coil springs designed to improve ride height while maintaining the vehicle's comfort, stability, and efficiency.
The transformation was exactly what modern suspension improvement should be.
The ground clearance improved significantly. The vehicle gained a stronger, more confident stance.

Few cars have transformed as dramatically over the years as the Mazda Atenza. What began as a practical family sedan evolved into one of the most stylish and technologically advanced vehicles in its class. Today, the Atenza stands as a perfect example of Mazda's commitment to innovation, performance, and driver satisfaction.
Built around Mazda's revolutionary SKYACTIV Technology, the Atenza was designed with a different philosophy. Instead of simply adding power, Mazda focused on making every component lighter, stronger, and more efficient. The result is a car that delivers excellent fuel economy, responsive handling, impressive stability, and a driving experience that feels far more premium than its price tag suggests.
The stunning KODO design language gives the Atenza an almost timeless appearance. Even years after leaving the factory, its sleek profile, flowing body lines, and aggressive front-end styling continue to turn heads wherever it goes. It's the kind of car that looks expensive because it was engineered to feel special.
But as beautiful and sophisticated as the Atenza is, Kenyan roads often present challenges that the original engineers never had to consider.
Steep parking entrances, unexpected speed bumps, rough access roads, and fully loaded family trips can quickly expose one weakness common to many imported vehicles ground clearance.
This particular Mazda Atenza came to us with exactly that concern. The owner loved everything about the car, but wanted more confidence when navigating everyday roads. The vehicle had begun sitting lower than ideal, making bumps and rough sections of road a constant concern.
After a detailed suspension assessment, we identified the source of the problem and carried out a professional coil spring upgrade. The goal wasn't simply to raise the vehicle it was to improve its practicality while preserving the comfort, stability, and refined handling that make the Atenza special.
The results were exactly what we aimed for.

Over the years, we've had the privilege of working on every generation of the Toyota Fielder from the older NZE121 and NZE141 models to the newer NKE165 and WXB variants. Different owners, different driving habits, different mileage, but surprisingly, many of them arrive with the same story.
At first, it starts with a slight scrape on a speed bump.
Then comes the hesitation when approaching rough roads. The rear begins to sag when carrying passengers or luggage. The ride no longer feels as comfortable as it once did. Many owners assume the shock absorbers are the problem, yet in most cases, the real culprit is hiding in plain sight.
Weak coil springs.
The Toyota Fielder is one of the most practical wagons ever built. It's fuel-efficient, reliable, spacious, and affordable to maintain. But like any vehicle, its suspension components are constantly working. Every passenger, every bag of luggage, every pothole, and every kilometer travelled puts stress on the springs.
As years pass, the springs gradually lose their original strength.
The vehicle sits lower than intended. Ground clearance reduces. The shocks are forced to work harder. Comfort begins to disappear. What was once a smooth and confident ride becomes frustrating, especially on Kenyan roads.
That's why every Fielder that comes through our workshop receives more than just a quick fix. We carefully assess the suspension system and recommend solutions that restore the vehicle's intended ride height while improving its ability to handle local road conditions.
The transformation is always rewarding.
A properly sprung Toyota Fielder sits better, handles weight more confidently, clears speed bumps with ease, and delivers a more comfortable driving experience. Most importantly, it regains the practicality that made it such a popular choice in the first place.
Having worked on so many Fielder models over the years has taught us that ground clearance isn't just about appearance. It's about comfort and safety.

Wish was engineered as a practical family MPV, with coil springs designed to support the vehicle's weight while maintaining proper suspension geometry, ride comfort, and handling stability.
However, after years of carrying passengers, luggage, and enduring thousands of compression cycles on rough roads, potholes, and speed bumps, the factory springs gradually lose their original tension due to metal fatigue.
The consequences are more significant than most drivers realize:
Reduced ground clearance
Increased body roll and bouncing
Rear-end squat under load
Premature shock absorber wear
Uneven tire wear
Reduced braking and cornering stability
A loss of just 15–25mm in ride height is enough to alter suspension geometry and force shocks to operate outside their ideal working range. As suspension travel reduces, the vehicle becomes more prone to bottoming out, scraping, and uncomfortable impacts over uneven surfaces.
The solution lies in restoring the suspension system to its intended operating range.
By installing high-tensile coil springs, ride height can typically be restored or improved by 25–40mm while maintaining the balance between comfort and stability. The increased spring rate improves load handling, reduces excessive chassis movement, and allows the dampers to work more efficiently.
At Dayu Auto Workshop, we stock:
Ex-Japan High-Tensile Eibach Springs (Linear & Progressive)
New Heavy-Duty Coil Springs
Springs for Toyota Wish and all other vehicle models
The goal isn't simply to make the car sit higher. It's to restore suspension travel, improve handling characteristics, protect suspension components, and give the vehicle the confidence it had when new.
