Some moments stay with you.

Grateful to have volunteered at the just concluded World Athletics Indoor Championships - in Toruń, 🇵🇱

Serving in Accreditation & Accommodation Operations meant supporting athlete journeys through identity services, safe housing, and daily logistics. I worked in diverse, mixed-gender teams where roles were driven by skill, teamwork, and event needs a reminder that equity strengthens performance.

Proud to witness how inclusion becomes practice, and how global sport can model gender equality in action under World Athletics leadership.

Proud moment to be serving my Country’s 🇰🇪athletic delegation among other world class athletes.

through service.Building through sport.

Day 2 at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, 🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱 Torun, Poland and what an immersive experience it has been.

Volunteering inside a world-class sporting environment is giving me a front-row view of how global events are delivered - precision, teamwork, diversity, and pure passion for sport.

Special highlight: meeting incredible athletes and Kenyan athletes who truly showed excellence on the world stage. So proud of their performance, resilience, and the spirit they carry 🇰🇪

Grateful to be learning, serving, and growing within international sport management spaces. On to the final moments of an unforgettable championship experience.

Sport has the power to shape lives and leadership determines how that power is used.

When women take up tough roles in sports, they don’t just break barriers, they create pathways for girls to dream, participate, and lead.

Women’s leadership in sport strengthens communities, promotes safer environments, and builds more inclusive systems for everyone.

Let’s continue to support women to lead boldly and with purpose.

To all girls out there in Sports, don’t stop being bold

Her Game, Her Power | Irene Mutindi

What began as simple curiosity became a lifelong purpose. As a young girl, Irene Mutindi would watch boys playing with homemade footballs, laughing, bonding, and having fun. “I couldn’t understand why 22 people would be chasing one tiny ball,” she says, but that curiosity soon pulled her into the beautiful game.

Her journey wasn’t easy. Growing up in an environment where football wasn’t seen as a sport for girls, Irene had to rise above deep-rooted stereotypes. She lacked support, equipment, coaching, and structured playing opportunities but her determination was unshakable. “Many people around me believed girls shouldn’t play. That mindset made it hard to be accepted, to find motivation, and to feel that my dream was valid.”

Still, Irene refused to give up. She explored every side of the game; as a player, captain, coach, referee, and administrator to understand football from every angle. “Football became more than a sport; it became a tool for education, empowerment, and social change.”

Her commitment and leadership earned her recognition in 2018 as a Top 25 Coaches in Africa finalist by WorldRemit, a milestone that reminded her how far passion and persistence can go. But for Irene, the true measure of success isn’t awards,it’s impact.

Through her social enterprise, Purpose Sports Limited, Irene has mentored over 1,000 girls helping them find their voice, build confidence, and use football as a bridge to education, leadership, and self-discovery.

“Passion fuels purpose. My goal is to help girls see that football has space for them, whether as players, coaches, referees, or leaders. Keep showing up, keep learning, and play with joy. Your journey is yours to define.”

The celebration doesn’t end with the Day of the Girl, it continues in every story like Irene’s. Every training session, mentorship circle, and match she leads is a reminder that purpose-driven women are shaping the future of football across Kenya and beyond.
