This is a historic moment as it marks the first time the Kenyan marathon legend will run a full marathon on African soil.

Preparations for the 6th Edition of the NYS Athletics Championship are now in top gear as the six NYS regions intensify final training sessions and team selection ahead of the highly anticipated event scheduled to take place later this month at NYS Camp Yatta.

The Championship is expected to bring together talented athletes from across the regions in a showcase of discipline, teamwork and sporting excellence. Regional camps are currently finalizing their squads as participants prepare to compete at the national level.

Adidas developed its first marathon-specific shoe in the late 1960s, named the Adidas Marathon. 59 years later, they developed the first shoe worn to break the two-hour barrier in an official race named; the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3.

The Adidas Marathon was famously worn by Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon, and Derek Clayton, who set a world record in it in 1969.

Unlike modern "super shoes," this early model was a minimalist racing flat often made with kangaroo leather.

The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 was recently worn by Sabastian Sawe, who finished the London marathon with a world record time of 1:59:30.

The shoe is the first "super shoe" to weigh under 100 grams (specifically 97 grams). It features a 39mm stack of Lightstrike Pro Evo foam and a new carbon system called ENERGYRIM.
