CARDIO + CORE = A STRONGER YOU 🔥

Strength isn’t just about how much you can lift. Your body needs conditioning and stability too.

Cardio builds your endurance, improves heart and lung fitness, and helps you perform better during workouts and everyday life.

💪 Core training builds the stability and control you need to lift safely, run efficiently, maintain good posture, and transfer power through your entire body.

Don’t train just for the muscles you can see. Train your heart, strengthen your core, and build a body that can perform. 🔥

At Physiq, we train for strength. Fitness. Performance. LIFE.

Calf Raises 🦵🏽🔥

Don’t underestimate your calves! Calf raises strengthen the gastrocnemius and, importantly, the soleus muscle—a deep calf muscle that plays a major role in walking, running, jumping and ankle stability.

But here’s something interesting: the soleus has been called the “second heart” because of its role in helping pump blood back up from the lower legs toward the heart. When you contract your calf muscles, they help compress veins and support venous return, especially when you’re standing or moving.

That doesn’t mean the soleus literally functions as a second heart—but its powerful role in circulation has earned it the nickname. ❤️🩸

So add those calf raises to your program: ✅ Stronger calves & ankles
✅ Better running and jumping performance
✅ Improved lower-leg stability
✅ Supports venous blood return
✅ Helps build balanced, functional legs

Train the muscles you see AND the muscles you need.

The Last Lift 🕯️

On Thursday, 20th August, the Physiq Community came together for “THE LAST LIFT” — a workout and candlelighting vigil in loving remembrance of our dear Leah.

We began with a workout designed by Leah’s Hyrox Coach, Jevon Okoth. It was more than just a workout. It was our way of coming together through something Leah loved so deeply — movement, challenge, community and Hyrox.

After the workout, we gathered for a vigil and began sharing stories about Leah. Friends from the gym, her workplace and her family each gave tributes, taking us through different chapters of her life and sharing the values and philosophy that made her who she was.

It was incredibly beautiful to see Leah through the eyes of the people who knew her closely. Every story revealed another part of the woman we were privileged to know.

Her running and Hyrox community brought their medals and Hyrox patches and placed them around her portrait — a beautiful reminder of the races, competitions, training sessions and memories they shared together. ❤️

Pastor Pitson then gave us a powerful sermon that reminded us all of the brevity of life — and the importance of making our lives count, loving deeply, showing up for one another and leaving a meaningful impact while we are here.

We ended the evening in the place Leah loved — the part of Physiq where our Hyrox community trains.

One by one, we lit our candles and used them to spell out LEAH as we sang:

“Carry your candle, go light your world.” 🕯️

And somehow, in that moment, it felt like Leah was still with us — reminding us to keep moving, keep lifting, keep running, keep showing up for each other and, above all, keep carrying the light.

Leah, your life touched so many people.

Your smile, your strength, your generosity, your love for running and Hyrox, and the joy you brought into our community will never be forgotten.

Rest well, Leah.
You carried your candle brightly.
Now we will carry the light forward. 🕯️❤️
